[QUOTE=BrendanC;7348190]I see alot of potential in the pana. I see it as a car that many many people will despise ]because of pre-conveived notions of what a sedan is supposed to look like.[quote/] agreed.

It will probably be about 40k in a few years like the 99k E55s from 2006 are now 25k. Thats perfect. And my wife likes cars that are shaped like Jelly Beans anyway.
Not sure I agree with this though.... 4Ss run from ~$100k-to$150k; considerably higher than the E55. Within the last couple weeks I sold our 2005 E55 Estate w/30k miles for $37k...... I hope you're wrong about the depreciation curve though - I don't think they're going to drop like the AMG cars. $40k might be a little optimistic (as a buyer of course). Hopefully it will not be as steep as most AMGs..... Cayennes have held up pretty well - at least the GTS has.

Panamera rear end looks same to me a E-type Jag 2+2 version. Its just not right.

Coupe pic in #1 post looks much better. 928 isn't prettiest car around though.

Sorry but "news" like this...." the V6-powered Panamera, pictured, and Panamera 4 will become the new entry point to the automaker's four-door Gran Turismo lineup. Both models will be powered by a new 3.6-litre V6 ...." Does not bode well for being a collector car. Even if it does make 300 hp

not sure "collector car" and Panamera belong in the same sentence? The V6 Cayenne hasn't hurt the model at all..... The only people I see driving the 6 banger are soccer mom's who's husbands had to have them in a Porsche.

Whom ever owns that Panamera in the parking lot has a big set of nads with a POS 4X4 sitting next to it. The redneck yahoo would probably slam his door against it cuz its a "furrin" car. Quite frankly, If I didn't owe almost 7 digit $$$ on my restaurant, I'd buy a Panamera too! You go Chucky, and enjoy the machine!

Coming from Michigan, you may not be familiar with SoCal. The pickup truck is probably owned by some little chick that voted for Obama, and the Porsche is owned by some MILF who's husband bought it because he has a 997.

Honestly, for the most part, people in SoCal are very thoughtful when they themselves also own a newish car. Now - this statement is invalid if you go much more west of the 15 freeway, or in the case of the 10 - go much past pomona.

Where this parking lot is - the car is perfectly safe.

Obviously we hope you won't lose any money on your own purchase, or sell it before the bottom false out, but I simply do not see the design catching on.

Especially when Aston can get THIS SOOOOO right:

I had the opportunity to see 4 of them come thru here last winter, still disguised - but I knew what they were. I talked to the German guys driving them, and they were coy about it but glad to see somebody who knew what they were. I like the 4 door okay - it does grow on you, especially when you see it in person. I love the color you picked Chuck - it really flatters the car IMHO.

Maybe the Aston is the spiritual successor to the 928 - look closely at the pic Brendan posted and you'll see a crack in the pod

Why has Aston stolen the S4 taillights.
They did mount it upside down though.

(I do sorta like having the red brake/tail elements up on top)

Thanks Brendan, I expect the car to drop but got a good enough deal on it that I'm a little insulated from some of the depreciation..... there are only going to be about 1000 Panameras coming to the US so exclusivity is somewhat assured. Most will be going to China and the Mid-East..... The design doesn't have to appeal to the masses just a limited few?

As for the AM Rapide, at nearly twice the cost of our P4S there is HUGE a price for the beauty of that car. AM are much more likely to depreciate at a faster rate than the Porsche in my opinion. Look at the DB9; you can get a $200k 2009 for ~$125k or less right now.....

Lucky guy! I posted right away that I like this car and would buy one if I could. At the same time I have to say that a shortened 2-door version will be no future 928. To do that they (Porsche) need to do what they did in the 70's - start with a clean sheet of paper...

Thanks Martin. It's not likely that Porsche will do like they did with the original 928 simply due to the high costs associated with a clean sheet of paper design. Platform sharing is what its all about these days......
