AIR kit looks like a good way to go. Anyone here done it and how happy are they with it? How heavy are the parts?

Finding good used S-4 tailights and also the expensive tailight harness which includes the bulb sockets is not easy.....so plan on spending almost a $1,000 just for lights !

The AIR bumpers sort a kinda fit and do not hold up well for street use in my opinion. Fitting them and getting the stud plates into the flange requires some grinding ,cutting, and filling. They do NOT just bolt on.

Yes it is easier....Mike's posts are a very real example of the metal work needed to get it right.

I knew of the car...your front fenders are the Bob Devore wide body with Kevlar inserts. Front cap might be AIR and rear probably as well. My own project wide body 1980 has AIR front cat and front fenders...real S-4 rear cap and Yes I cut away a lot of sheet metal to fit the rear. I widened the front cap by 4 inches moved the fenders out 2 inches and widened the carbon hood by 4 inches...

The tail lights kind'ia scared me because i know how much 993 tail lights cost. When i did the mods on the 911's. I purchased used body parts. Its alot easier to find used parts for a 911 to mod versus a 928. (with a discounted used price).

I can't see paying more than 275-300 for the rear and the find some good tail lights for $300 used. So after considering the pain, it would be easier and cheaper and other had said.

thanks for the HELP. I wish an OEM rear would button up with no modifications.

Oh well.

My cab has the AIR rear cap on it. I don't love it. Kinda has a soggy diaper look to it, which is particulary offensive on a cab rear end which is messed up anyhow. I have purchased a real S4 rear and at some point in the next year I will be figuring out how to get it to Honolulu, doing the metal work, and replacing the bumper. Old AIR bumper will be on the scrap pile and free to a good home. I have an extra set of tail lights that could go with it for small money.

Leave it alone, and get it running and driving 100%.
