I'm interested...can't tell from the pictures, but are they different from what 928 Motorsports sells? I like the idea if a retaining shoulder to keep the springs in place.
Cheers!

I could use a set. Bought some old Devek coilovers since you started the project, but they could use some more attractive hardware for sure.
Thanks,

Good morning. I have had some PMs and emails, so I will post here generally.
1) The units in the picture are pieces from a now-defunct company, and so I cannot get any more -
*BUT*....
2) I wouldn't buy them from that defunct company because these pieces are not for Konis, but for bilstein - and that makes them different.
3) So I am not copying anyone else's design that I am aware of. I did not do a copyright search, but I think that the 928 world is small enough that I would have seen them. My design is completely different in form and function than anything I have seen because of the spring control, etc.
The price from the above posts is still about the same for machined, but uncoated shock tops that will fit the bilstein shock shafts but also have a large shoulder to control the spring movement.
That is, 30 dollars each actual piece, and a car would need four pieces. That is without shipping to you, or any coating. I can find out with a click would it would change the price for anodizing. Actually, let me do that now...
I don't think the anodizing is a good cost benefit as it seems to add over 15 dollars to each piece. I will coat mine, but probably will powdercoat or nickel coat to match other parts.
So the cost is somewhat reasonable if the people that are interested felt these would be a good fit at 30 dollars each piece, or 120 for the two front and two back.
The bottoms are not designed yet, and technically, the reason this is being done this way is because the bilsteins already have threads and spring seats. I was imagining something that was just a plate that would slip into the hypercoils inner diameter and have a proper perch. As I said, the bilsteins have a perch, but I am concerned over scratching and binding. It may just be a good idea to buy something that lets the springs move in a radial motion when they compress.

OK, so I want a set for Bilsteins. You mentioned in your reply to me that someone had another source for good hats. So, why are still going to make these?
Also, looking for a good source for Hypercoil springs and which Hypercoils those would be (diameter, length).

I am making these as they fit the specific usage on our cars - meaning the parts that have to bolt to our car bodies - and do not slip around and are not going to make weird noises and let the spring slip around and the hat slip around in the rubber and metal assemblies that will go over these.
Most other hats also have the cutout on the side so you can take them off and reinstall a different height when adjusting racecars. I do not feel that's in our usage pattern, so I do not have the cutout.

This might be good for the bottom perch. I know it says Koni, but I think it may work with Bilstein:

If you're going with stiffer springs, which seems like the point, don't you want stiffer shocks?
The old-school Koni's are single-adjustable on rebound and allow a stiffer shock when using stiffer springs. It doesn't need to adjust for compression as the spring only pushes one-way.
Are Koni and Bilstein rods different diameters? The shock bodies may be but the rods need to take those same plastic dust covers.
Which reminds me...
In the pic the shock is hanging loose. Will this need helper springs to keep the assembly, well, assembled when jacked?
