Front shock and spring trouble

if the correct perch is used then it will not be able to come past the inner collar if the out collar should come off (UNSCREW)
After reading this I would suggest a shock be taken apart and pictures posted for a better diagnosis.
The correct lower perch should not be able to pass the inner threaded collar once positioned on the shock body.
If you used Bilstien perches then you may have found your problem about the fitment issue.
The Boge perch is sort of a precision fit so it will rest on the inner collar , test fit this to see what you have

New Sachs Shock - Used threaded sleeve, adjusting nut and lower spring perch.
Can't see the threaded sleeve anywhere unless it's still inside the nut.
Sleeve should be sitting on top of the two lock points which I can see.

OK guys finally got around to pulling the shock and spring. The sleeve is perfect and the adjusting nut is good. Neither stripped or failed. The sleeve was in the exact place it was when I adjusted it last. It appears to be a shock failure. The adjusting sleeve has gone past it's stop points on the shock. No damage to any part except for the shock. I'll be calling roger about this to see if this is a warranty issue.

I commented on Reutter that the threaded collar looks slightly cocked as if it is too loose a fit on the body and the stops look compressed as if the shock body tube may not have been manufactured correctly or out of the proper gage steel. I'd be worried about this whole set of shocks.

Definitly a failed shock. Looks like the stops collapsed or were not big enough to retain the sleeve under severe shock.
New shock on its way along with a sleeve and nut.
Please return the bad shock with the nut and sleeve in situ for the return to Sachs/Boge.
Sorry for the inconvieniance.

I agree with Bill- that bump swaged out of the body is what is supposed to keep the collar in place- if the collar was forced over the bump, it is now bent inwards, and will probably not hold up.
