Default What are these seats?

This photo was originally posted on the French 928 owners' group, and subsequently to the UK Porsche enthusiasts' club forum.

No-one can identify the peculiar seats, or even if it was a factory option or not.

I've deleted the original French post, so can't translate it to see if the seats were discussed.

Anyone ever see seats like these? Anyone know the story behind them?

Thanks.

Thats a very beige car. I don't think I have seem so many beige panels before in a 928. Looks very custom.

I had a set in my car when I bought it a few years ago. They now belong to Paul Champagne. They're awesome seats, but a tight squeeze in the 928. I haven't seen any other 928's in the states that have them. maybe they were more common overseas? I've seen a few Japanese cars on e-bay that had them. Mine were black, cool to see the tan ones.

These are indeed Recaro Orthopedic.
Some of the best seats ever made. Recaro still makes basically the same model.

Was available on the 928, from the factory, as a very expensive option.

I have a black set in stock if anyone is interested (Ben's set actually).

Beige? On some TV show I saw about cars, one character said about a colour,

"thats not Beige, that Jewish Racing Gold!"

Struck me as a very funny line. No offense intended, hope none is taken.

$1500.00 + shipping for the pair

Original, butter soft leather
Adjustable bolsters
Adjustable thigh support
Adjustable headrest
Lumbar system
And more

There is also on-board memory system, but one seat is missing a gear, so the memory doesn't work, but the rest does.

Man if they were blue or burgundy I'd probably jump on them but I can't make black work in either of my cars. I guess I'll just have to settle for a set of Champagne sport seats at some point in the future.

How will this hook into my existing wiring? Is it plug and play or will I need to customize?
