Ummm.... yawn....

exactly why do we care what is written by cars by a bunch of journalists that pander to bankers/traders who for the most part consider cars appliances or status symbols?

I watch CNBC. But, not for the automotive news.

Panamerica?? Even Automobile Magazine calls it ugly.

This is why you cannot trust the media, money corrupts everything.

That show is just a pre-advertising viral "History" thing to show Porsche's history with hybrid cars to help promote the Porsche Hybrid's Heritage and the small economical people's car thing. From the CNBC biography segment the first car Ferdinand designed was a hybird gasoline car with electric drive that cruised at a whopping 9 mph. And later the Daimler race cars he designed before he moved to Mercedes were also hybird gas/electric.

Maybe the segment just came about because the ad staff were putting together the heritage archival stuff for the hybird and someone thought it would make a good biography segment. Especially with the VW merger info tacked on the end.

The Henry Ford segment shown just before sure painted Henry Ford and the American Car industry in a poor light.

The media outlets my company advertises with do the same thing. Pretty blatant. But still, it poses the question: what are the most desireable Porsches?

-The Iris Blue GTS shown above would be in my list
-a 993 targa
-an early 930
-The latest 911 turbo as a DD, I suppose
-Kermit?
-I like my 944S2 cab. Not sure it would make anyone else's list though.
-I have a speedster replica, which is about as close as I would ever want to get to a 356 of any flavor
-914-6?
-A 911 SC is a pretty solid car, but not that popular at the moment, I think and I'd rather have the 993.
-Pre SC 911s are interesting but feel pretty tail heavy to me

Probably blasphemous but the 928 is the only car they ever made that I was even remotely interested in.

Don't see myself ever owning any other car from Porsche.

904 and 959 really set a standard. I guess this might have to be street legal, but the thread is much more interesting now that we have deservedly trashed CNBC and their priorities.

I definately really really like my IrisBlauMetallic GTS!

A Boxster Spyder with A/C and a radio and the freakin heavy stuff like electric windows and electric seats removed instead (stupid lazy production/enginnering staff) would be my next choice.

I got to drive a 996 Carrera and a 987 Boxster S for a session each at Laguna Seca, and I have to say that the Boxster S was a hell of a lot of fun. Turn-in and the steering feel was fantastic. It was on 235/265 PS2's. Wish I could have taken my GT out on the track. I also wish I could have kept up with the instructor in the base-model Mazda 3.....
