Personally I will stick with OEM or anything supplied by a known vedor over unknown quality like those.

true. but if the 928 community wanted cheap china parts, we would not have a 928. more like a honda civic...

Any further updates on this.
I'm currently at the coolant draining stage of the intake refresh and would like to replace ALL my coolant hoses with blue (cool-ant) silicone hoses.

I would ideally like orange oil/breather hoses too.

Never heard anything further from Mike at LR.
I also was advised that the use of silicone for coolant pressure hoses was not a good choice at all.
Fine for track use with elevated temperatures.
The makeup of the silicone hose allows the coolant to pass through the wall of the hose.
This leaves a sweet hot coolant smell in the cabin – not nice.

OK. I'll just get the regular ones from 928GT.com.

Thanks.

I could never tell if the silicone hose replacement was a fix for something that rarely fails. If you perform regular maintenance on your car all hoses last a long time and probably should be changed every 5-7 years routinely. I know of many cars still running the original large upper and lower hoses. Not saying that is a smart thing but an indicator of original good quality.

If your thing is a color other than black then I can see interest.

It's an upgrade for any hose that is a real PIA to replace. Which on the 928 would be the two coming out of the heater core. You risk damaging the plastic fittings.

In the Ferrari world it's a no-brainer to replace all hoses with silicone since almost all of them are buried. I've never heard of anyone experiencing coolant smell with those cars. Even on my fathers targa 355 coolant smell is non-existent with the open decklid.

Could be a variety of hose goes by the name Silicone?

Calif highway patrol specs silicone hoses, and when I bought my Mustang back in 1991 I bought a set from Ford Motorsports, which are still on the car in perfect shape with no leaking I know of.

Silicone hoses for a 928 are another one of those "does anyone really need it" things....I'll not **** anyone off by making a list of the absurd things that have been made for these cars.

A huge majority of the cars I see have the original hoses on them. Many of these get changed to the "aftermarket" hoses that are sold by our vendors. Are these as good as the hoses originally suppiled? Doubtfully.

I've gotten to the point where I "bite the bullet" and buy factory hoses for the "big" dollar restorations/fabrications. They are more expensive, but I know that they will still be there 15 years from now.

I do remember something about how some of the different Silicone hose reacted to the different coolant that we run on our industrial equipment.
I am not sure how the pink/green store bought coolants react to the Silicone hose.
I also seem to remember that there is a difference in Silicone hose. Some we had to discontinue on our equipment.

How our(928ers) coolent and the hose will react, I have know Idea.
But I am sure people out there have been running Silicone hose and all different kinds of coolent for years with very little problem.

I want the color and reliability

I didn't think about that, I wonder if the issue is with the pink or some other "new" coolant.

I'm sure like anything else there are different quality levels.

Here is what is available for the 355:
http://www.ricambiamerica.com/produc...ucts_id=343619
"This is not a "siliconized" consumer grade hose, this is 100% Silicone"

The price of that kit may look a bit steep, the two reducer pieces on the right are $250 a piece when purchased separately. So $500 for the rest of the kit isn't so bad....
