Malcolm--

Download the PDF version from Porsche, and the screen res problems go away. No installation required. Click on the file and it opens. Plus, commpn Acrobat tools allow you to highlight sections of individual pages, add comments, etc. It's a step forward from running PET as a standalone program.

I tried and it doesn\t work either.............have the same issues as Wally

'file not found'

I went back to Wallys thread (5 pages back) and there wasn't any 'resolution'.........pun intended.

This worked for me a few minutes ago. I just clicked the link in the post at the bottom of the previous page, chose the year i wanted (83-86) and it opened on my desktop. Then I saved it and put it in a folder with my web archives of 928 pages.

Easy peasy. (My display is set to 1440x900)

Dr. bob.............thx for the offer but I now have PET access through other means following a phone call, many PMs and an email from Europe.

If anyone does come up with a way to fix the resolution on windows 7 so I can read PET from the CDs I'm still very interested.

I can glue the CD to a frisbee and let fly over to your place...



On its way. I added a couple LED's to the frisbee for some POP, so you can see it on the way.

I can put it on my server so anyone can download if you are willing to make it available, Dr Bob. I have many such documents hosted here.. and requiring login/password protection if you wish.

Let's watch demand and decide. Most folks are not having problems with the standard version. The Standard version offers some search functions that aren't native in the pdf readers, so the need for this particular file is really limited to those who don't have the available screen resolution, mostly low-end laptop users.

Is 1366x768 considered 'low-end'? I find it interesting that my 6 yr old Dell laptop ran PET 6 just fine but the new Toshiba doesn't.

PET 7 is nice though

Malcolm, Unfortunately, the designers of PET decided that 1280 x 1024 was the required resolution - no more or no less - aka 5:4 aspect ratio, most new laptops have the 16:9 format - as in HD - as they are designed more for the video/facebook / myspace/ viewer that the techy!, if your laptop has a 1366x768 this is 'unusual' ratio. Most new laptops have 2 seperate and distinct video ports, so one is set to the default of the base device - as in yours, and a second video port that can run whatever res you like.
