Its likely he can deliver parts, big and small, faster than your local folks can confirm an order with their suppliers. And, even with 20% duty, you will avoid what I suspect to be far-higher local markup.
+1.

Hello all

How do I contact Roger & Wally? I PM them but didn't response . I need the total & shipping costs.

BTW I was driving around town in my BMW & I found a suitable workshop that does all Porsche.

The mechanic said the timing belt will take whole day( Morning sent & take the car in the evening). & I will have to supply him the parts.

He advice me about the 928:

1) The timing belt change is crucial as there's a possibility crack on the belt . He advice me to also buy the timing belt bearing? Could anybody explain?

2) There's some 928s in his workshop have battery flat problem. He said he have to change the wiring.Anybody have that problem? E.g You change new battery & it goes flat the next day. Please advice.

3) Should I change the Valve cover gasket? since the spark plugs will also be change.

Thanks

Z

Use e-mail to get hold of Roger.. roger@928srus.com

For Wally (or Dave or Jeannie), best way is to use phone and speak to them directly - can be tricky for time-zone reasons tho

Z,

I try to check this Forum (and therefore the private messages) at least once per day, but I am not on the Forum 24/7. Your private message sent at 11:34 our time yesterday was forwarded to Jeannie for her action late yesterday afternoon. Since 928 Specialists is a business, with normal hours of 9:00 - 5:00 Monday - Friday, it will be Monday at the earliest before you can expect to hear from her. We try to respond in a timely manner, but obviously aren't always as quick as our customers want.

You can check parts prices on our website any time day or night. Shipping costs and customs costs vary greatly with the size and weight of the shipped package.

I cannot tell very well from your picture what is there and what is missing, you have to get in there and find out. If you look at the picture in post 4 in my referenced thread, you'll see that the whole assembly consists of nr 13 (base) nr 12 (cap), nr 14 (divot). Nr. 15 is the handle which you already have. The base is attached to the body by two allen head screws. All parts are separately available.

Also, since your car is a RHD, you will need the parts for a RDH car. I don't know if those are different from LHD cars in this case, or if they are the same and simply mounted up side down. Best to ask your vendor or maybe somebody from the UK can chime in.

Gee, where have I heard this advice before? Anyway;

1) The belt runs on a tensioner, which is what I think he meant. Yes, it prolly should be changed. There is also a bearing at the bottom that guides the belt under high torque, it usually doesn't go bad unless the car has been very wet. Many people replace the water pump when they do the belt. I advise not to replace the water pump unless there are indications that it has been leaking or the bearing is compromised(failing).

2) The 928 is well known as a battery killer. There are a lot of things that can cause this from aftermarket alarms and stereo installation to factory anti-theft and even lighting circuits. It needs to be investigated by someone with an ammeter and a knowledge of load troubleshooting. It's time-consuming, and frustrating work. Start with any aftermarket radio or alarm installation. After that, look at the anti-theft(factory alarm), then the lighting circuits.

3) Because your car is so low mileage, it's quite likely that the gaskets have shrunk and hardened over time. The valve cover is a common area of failure because it is a long narrow rubber seal and it runs right above the exhaust manifold which heat cycles. I would investigate with a light from below before replacing as the gasket is not an easy job. A lot of things must come off before the gasket can be replaced. Look for drooling down the head near the front and back. If you replace it, also replace the cam end seals at the same time.

^^ Terma kasih ;P

BTW- The other day , I drove my car to the land transport department for inspection & to issue road tax for my 928. From there I straight away sent the car to the air con specialist to fill in air con gas as the AC in tha car only blows air. After they fill in gas- The car air con is very cold but the next day the air con only blows air.( not cold air) - Leakage somewhere?please advice.

I also sent the car to the audio shop to install new head unit. It's Sony- Luckily he( electrician) detects many cut live wires early as they can ignite spark.
The Cut wires are used to belong to the AMP & head unit that used to be in the car. He seal all with electrical tape.( my car has no radio when I bought it). Out of the 10 speakers in the car-only 8 works. 2 speakers at the left doors do not work.

I just sent the confirmation Email to Roger regarding the parts That I want to buy- Timing belt etc.Thanks.

Here's some pics:

1) Taken just now

2) New Sony head unit

3)This is where my 928 sleeps every night

Why are the wipers at attention? Was someone cleaning both windshields, or is that some sort of hot weather consideration?
