How about spending $7 for a single nylock nut just so you have the original yellow insert?

I have it, just fight against it in the interest of keeping sane and knowing that some parts are NLA and impossible to duplicate like the original parts.
There is a cottage industry that caters to this mentality where new fasteners are coated to look like the original fasteners, paint formulas are made to replicate the exact finishes through the car, wiring harnesses are made to look like the original, etc.
There are some allowances made by most with this disease for upgrading parts to a safer or better part as long as they look original or can't be seen when looking.

Well I will admit that I won't replace a cad plated nut/bolt with something that isn't cad plated or equivalent appearance. I've gone as far as to have recent parts purchased from Porsche plated after the fact since they no longer offer certain nuts bolts with cad plating.
I wouldn't fret over the color of a nylock unless the plastic they use is specific for heat/chemical resistance.

More of this will be coming as the "collector" market is shifting towards "originality" as evidenced at the recent major auctions where original paint and parts is increasingly gaining $$ over respray/enhanced.
The restomod/tribute car phenom seems to have caused this swing back, as times are tough paying good money for a non matching cobbled together eBay sticker enhanced car is making less sense.
In a way this is good, gets more nla parts remade, but of course the greedy often appear.
I remember when really shiny brake lines were in vogue on the show circuit. I spent hours polishing mine with toothpaste as the judges gave an extra point over having plated lines. Thankfully I am in a 1 step recovery program from that disease. (I actually drive the car!)

Will they fit on my '90? I think that would be a great idea! Make the car lighter!

They would throw me out of the meetings I guess. I'm more than happy to replace things with new and better and just drive the sh&t out of the car.
Guess I'm not doing it right.
ETA: But I will add this. I probably would not buy a 928 that was not as original as I could verify it to be. If there are modifications to be made I want to be the one to do them and make sure they are done correctly. So I guess I'm killing my resale value, but since I'm not gonna sell it.......
