I am about to start working on an all original 1959, 356A.

And I need to know firing order and proper timing marks before I send the distributor out for testing and have the old Zeniths refurbished.

Has anyone seen any good videos on the matter of timing or have recommendations ?? Please..

With a battery plugged in and gas, it tries to run, but does not do it well and I can see the carbs have been leaking for quite some time. The car is in absolutely stunning condition, as are the other 5 different Porsches he has in his little collection. They (the cars) live in his house...

Obviously, it is not my car. It's my boyfriends fathers, so I really don't want to mess it up. Plus, if I fix this one, like I did his 1 of a kind 1992, 911 Carrera cab, he'll let me use the 1992 more often. I absolutely am GaGa for that car!
I usually work on tractors and motorcycles, but my induction into this family has caused a certain expansion in my repertoire. (just fixed his 1991 Lotus Elan too, which was easy, just fuel system debris & minor electrical).

But the value of the 356 alone makes this feel a bit daunting. Unfortunately neither my BF or his father would know a mercury bar tool from a spanner if you beat them with it. And I am not going to get any help locally. (Central Washington)

So any outside advice or help would REALLY be appreciated.

Thanks a million!

Paula

^^^ someone here may be able to help ... but you should really start a thread in the 356 Forum and copy your post to that, or PM one of the mods and have them help you do it.
