I know....the deal is that his book with labor hours per job only went back to the early 90's for 928s. That isn't too surprising. I suggested that the rear body work labor hours for the S4s and GTs wouldn't be too much different than for the 928S. He's really good...he just doesn't want an unnecessary argument with ins. adjuster that would hold up just finishing the work.

You need to get your car, and take it somewhere else. This guy isn't interested in working on it. There's no real significant difference between a S4/GT and an earlier car.

BTW: The real take away from this is that the 928 (at least on Kumho Ecstas) is no good on ice. Moving the car under its own power was hopeless, as the wheels just spun. Some friendlies helped push it off to the side of the road. All this while a BMW Z4, a few rear wheeled Cadillacs and an assortment of other sedans drove past. Maybe it was just the Kumhos, but it was a very conspicuous feeling.

With one seam hidden underneath the bumper cover, another in the door jam and no inner fenderwell
the 928 has got to be one of the easiest cars to replace a quarter panel on, especially the drivers side.

I have a driver's rear quarter panel already cut off an '86, but shipping would be ridiculously expensive I am sure.
