Default Can these be removed without effect?

The little conroller box, looks like the black bulb controller, on the left side of the radio, mounted on the center hump, what does it do? can it be removed?

There is an alarm contoller box, also looks about the same size, can it be removed with out any issues?

thanks.

Alarm box can be removed, but you need to jumper 2 of the pins together to be able to have the car run. This can be done at the fuse box and the entire alarm harness can be removed in one piece as it is a seperate harness.

The other box, I cannot recall what it is for, but I think that it is required, but possibly able to be jumpered.

Got to love the internet. the part number 928 618 125 00, came up as the locking control unit, so it can be removed. Do you need to jumper anything on it?

the alarm box removal tip is great. Now, do we know what pins to jumper at the fuse box?

thanks

Mk

Wally said this in a post a while ago that I searched and found:
"The "Z" bypass is for the early cars - the S4 is different. On your '87, put a jumper from the black/red wire on B23 to the yellow wire on F25. If you put a toggle switch on the jumper, you will have a manual kill switch. If you want to do it behind the Central Electric Panel, hook a wire from the 15 bus (power only when the ignition switch is on) to Terminal 86 in the socket for Relay XVI, the EZK relay. The wiring is shown on Page 97-273 in the manual. "

928 618 125 00 'locking control unit'
Can be removed if you don't want any central locking.... no jumper required...
You can also then remove that harness to the central locking motors in the doors.... perhaps even the motors themselves...?? not sure if you then can lock the doors at all though...??

You can remove the motors and the harnesses. Locks will still work with the key.

yep, the locking controller can be removed, big surprize. But, as soon as the alarm plugs are pulled, the car dies. also no surprise. So, Ill try that jumper idea at the fuse panel red/black on that one bundle to the yellow wire on the F bundle.

thanks,
