I’ve been a Rennlist reader for about 5 months, a member for a month, and a 928 owner for a week. This forum has been a great source of information on buying, maintaining and modifying 928s.
I look forward to working on the 928 myself, but I am sure I will also need the services of a Chicago-area Porsche specialist for anything that is beyond my capabilities. I see two shops listed in Dana’s Mechanics directory - Midwest Eurosport in Bensenville, and Vaia Auto in Chicago. And I have found a few other area shops - 928 Motorsports, Midwest Performance Cars, and Rennology. I would appreciate any feedback on your experiences with these or any other Chicago area shops.
The only bad news about my purchase is that winter is here and I won’t be taking the 928 out in the snow. Spring can’t come soon enough…

Very nice! Looks like an excellent purchase. Unfortunately I have not gone to any shops other than Rennology and I just had them do a general inspection on the car after I purchased it. Wasted my money. Told me nothing I did not already know. No work on it however so I cannot reccommend. I more that likely will do most of the work myself with the excellent help you can find on this form! Looking forward to getting together with the Chgo land owners in the spring. There are several on this form and the Wi group is not far away.
Waiting 4 Spring!
Congrats!

Wow. Beautiful car. What year is it? 90? 91? That looks like a very, very nice example. Looks flippin NEW! How long had you been shopping before you found it? And if you don't mind me asking, how much did you pick it up for?

Welcome, Nice Car and low miles. Be sure to read the New Visitor section at the top of this forum. It is full of sage and important advice. Despite low miles realize everything is 18-19 years old. all rubber and vacuum hoses are dry, especially feul hoses. These cars can flame on if the feul hoses are cracked and leaking.

Thanks Dan. Although I don't have a full service record for the car, I do have records for the past couple years from the previous owner (and I will be keeping good records going forward). I do know that the car had the timing belt, tensioner and water pump replaced in July 2009. But I will give it a thorough going over as soon as Chicago temperatures get above freezing - maybe this weekend! Fuel hoses will be my first area to check.
