Default tachometer not working. any ideas how to fix

ok guys. The holbert car had this issue from the start and the guys at CT found the issue. any ideas on where to start? the pod is connected but loose, so I can look around in there. what wires go to the tach and what do they look like?

Thanks,

Seat the 3 plugs at the back of the instrument cluster first. The 4 connection point are the brain then fusebox in then fusebox out then instrument cluster.

Thanks Colin,

The 3 plugs are the "lever-out" connections? (conectors that are white and have levers on the edges to remove them) I remember there being only 2 of them, is there 3 of them? Is the "4 connection" point one of the 3 you speak of? can you restate the last sentence? im not sure what I would be looking for there.

thanks again!

There are 3 and one additional if it is an auto for the indicators. One on left and one on the right the third one, on right side that goes in sideways. Your tach signal comes from the Speedo I traced all of these and may have pictures and pin outs for an 85-euro auto if you need them.

Correct there are 3 connectors on the back of the instrument cluster. These are the ones you are familiar with and the most likely cause of the problems. Try reseating, then try cleaning with a pencil eraser if that doesnt work

the one on the driver outside of the instrument panel, has one of its "ears" broken. (the lever that opens the connector for removal), the other side seems to be in good shape and now I have to find the 3rd connector. Ill start wiggling and see what I find. I hope that works!
