Warning about Yahoo Landsharks Forum
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am soooooo glad the Rennlist forum seems to be full of genuine enthisiasts.
It appears I have been unsubscribed from the Yahoo Landsharks Australia Forum, because it is alright for them to 'flame' a newbie - but they cant take criticism themselves, or tollerate someone standing up to them.
And if you annoy the moderators pet idiot (grumpy_cu*t), woahhhh - then you are in real trouble.
While I have no problems with the Landshark site - it is an excellent resource - the 'accountant types' that run and frequent the Yahoo forum, who have never held a spanner to a porsche in thier lives, need a serious reality check. when asked for info and help by a newbie - in a polite and honest manner - dont flame them.
After receiving 18 emails and 4 phone calls from 928 owners in Australia, voicing thier support and warning me of the 'big girls' on the Yahoo Landsharks Australia Forum, and thier lies, prejudices and attitudes - there seems to be only one solution - create my own website and forum. Consequently there will be a NEW Australian based web site and forum in the near future. It will be dedicated to 'enthusiasts' who drive, restore, maintain and modify thier 928's. No posers need apply.
It will not be fancy, it will not be original information, and it will be primarily aimed:
There will be no pop ups, no advertising, just good, clean (sometimes), honest fun and info about 928's. If you have any thoughts or suggestions, please let me know.
And trust me, the moderator will not be an **** reentive-**** dictator with an inferiority complex [yes you all know who I am talking about]. You can post what you want, when you want, without censor. If you cant handle the heat when you open the bonnet - stay sitting inside in your nice comfy chair, and take your medication.
Thanks all in advance.
Jack

Possibly not the best of introductions (if thats what is was...).
I'd suggest you create a new account and start again... maybe after a while you can just voice support for your 'old self' as expressed here and leave it at that.
Lots of technical info here... but start off on the right foot...

Jack...did it ever occur to you that members of other groups...say...Landshark might be, oh I dunno, members here also? While your quest for a somewhat rare 928 seems to be legitimate, the arrogance that seeps through your posts is equally apparent. Lighten up. We are all here to enjoy our Porsche's and help each other...not prove who can be better than who. Your boot from Landsharks came with an offer to come back if you can check your attitude at the keyboard. I'm sure that you'll get the same reception here. BTW, I have recieved quite a bit of excellent advice from both this group and Landsharks in the ressurection of my poor, neglected '82 928. In fact, it wouldn't be drivable without help from a few members in both places.
Good luck in your quest.

To be a bit fair here, there were a few that seemed to want nothing but to irritate you and not have an open discussion about the car you are looking for. I also think that the responses you gave were pretty far down the list of proper.

Jack,
Welcome to Rennlist. Yours is one of the more atypical introductions I have seen in quite a while.
Please take a moment to review the Rennlist Charter and Terms of Service: http://www.rennlist.org/charter.htm
https://rennlist.com/TOS.htm
Also take a while to search this forum (and the site) in order to begin to understand how this community functions and how the "personalities" interact with one another.
Don't hesitate to ask a question or send a PM to a Moderator if you need assistance.
I am certain that your path will lead you to Gretch at some point.

Hi Jack,
I dont know what happened on the Yahoo forum but I see you are a Porsche owner that does not take crap from anyone. The way I see it is that I treat people with respect and kindness. If someone is arrogant or rude, then I will be the same back to them. In other words, treat people how you would like to be treated. There are some Porsche owners that work on their cars and others that dont want to know how and wont get their hands dirty. Same goes for the Corvette guys too. I have only been a member here for about two months and have found nothing but friendly and helpful forum members. Thats the way it should be. There is no reason to be mean or rude. Some people may come off that way, but did not mean it by the way it was said. We are all learning about our Porsches. Its a great hobby and I enjoy it. Some enthusiasts are into an original Porsche, customizing, racing, cruising, showing etc. Different strokes for different folks. All I can say is focus on what you need to get done on your car and enjoy the forum. Good Luck.
