Bill, I don't know you, but if you want to call me an ******* I understand. But somebody had to make this.

Currently on e-bay there are 2 or 3 ignition boxes for the 85/86, and 2 LH boxes. The ignitions start at $125. The LH boxes are $250 (make offer) and $300ish. Read up on their warranty. LH failure is nowhere near as common in the 85/86 as it is in the later cars so you can be more confident about a used one if you go that route. Sorry it had to happen to you. And sorry about the demotivator. Someone had to do it.

I have a spare set I can loan you in the mean time. I can Express/Parcel Post them tonight (airport post office), if you need the car.

The install thread link? I think I used an older copy of the page when I transferred the S3 stuff to it's own page. I'll restore it.

BTW: you made a funny. We've all been there, before - focked something up, bigtime.

That's what I was thinking. "I want this and I don't have that car!"

I'm going to find a local who'll let me put it on his. And then dyno it.

Seriously, I will.

Actually, I can't find the link to any of your discussion site on the liftbars site.

Yeah, I was on the verge of the same thing last week. Guys like us that don't know boards have challenges.

928 kudos to Ken for exceptional assist!

Bill, do not despair, the chips will be worth it and the journey is pretty interesting, too, you must admit.

Oh, and I know brother Howell, above, who gave it to you straight-up. If you were anywhere nearby he'd be in there helping you fix it!

Bill
Sorry to see this happen but as others have said, you (we) are very fortunate to have Ken.
I doubt that If someone installed A.A. chips and this happened A.A. would be doing the same thing ken is doing to help repair the board.
Nice work Ken my hat's off to you. ( couldn't find the hats off icon so the thumbs up will have to do)

Hypothetical Newbie Question: Will these chips (& '87 FPR) work if you plan on supercharging w/ a 928 Motorsports supercharger? Or is it recommended to just stay w/ the original/stock chip?

Ideally you would shark tune after the S/C install. And no not a good idea to use these chips with boost.

Ken,
what metabo power grinder?I have the classic aproach,a file.
I like your forum ,itīs a compact helper for S 2,S 3 owners. For me it was lost too.

@Billtool: I think Ken can solder the sockets back on.Driving an slow car for a few weeks and the 928 feels way faster.
I know it,my workcar for the farm is a Citroen Berlingo 3 Diesel 75 HP.Itīs Kenīs trainingsobject for the first few days on Autobahn if he visit me. ];-)
After that he can take a 928! ;-)

It's going to be a long winter with that file. It took me over an hour to make this pile of magnesium, today, with my (electronically controlled rpm) grinder at low speed.

I restored the old link to the forum.
