Well...just bought my chips from Ken. Ordered my FPR from Roger. We'll see how close I can get to that magic 300 RWHP. I'll leave my intake alone for a while.

Make sure that radar detector is working as it should!

What...you mean the Passport 9500? Which, as we all know, is far superior to any other radar detector on the market...wait for it...

Hey Fellows,

I'm in the process of installing my Porken chips. Got the fuel ines relaced and the 55psi regulator installed...I've done the searches, but can't find instructions on EZK and LH removal. I can see them and read Ken's post earlier./..but just saying "releasing a catch" doesn't help. Everything I touch I destroy, does anyone have any pics or procedure direction to remove these to parts. The chip install after I get them out is pretty clear (thx richter). Step by step for EZK aND LH removal for the mechanically challenged?

i was going to wait for Don Carter to walk me through it, but I've no patience and don't wait well for anything it seems. Next time I see Don m- I hope to be a chip installation expert...

Remove the passenger tray.

Remove the connectors. LH is nearer the fender.

There are I think 4 small bolts that mount the EZK to the frame, take those out. And the LH is held by three, two infront, one back nearer the firewall, centered.

You may have to remove the lower CE panel cover and raise or remove the upper.

I'll find the instructions Ken gave for disassembling the LH and EzK boxes to get at the chips and post the link.

Removing the passenger tray would have probably been useful. I did it with an extension and a swivel. I want to say the bolts are 7 or 8mm, too. Also worth noting, it's easier to remove the whole (computer) frame from the car, then remove the computers afterwards. Like he said, 4 bolts and it pulls right free.

Oh, and just in case it bears mentioning - it's under the carpet in the passenger footwell, behind the snap.

I just installed my S300s chips today. Very cool Ken, Thanks!

I'm so glad you got an '85 5-speed. I'm sure most of this would have worked fine for any S3, but having you design this thing and test it on a 5-speed means you're seeing and feeling exactly what I am, it's like having a custom tune for exactly what I'm running. And it's AWESOME.

I can't wait to get to the dyno!!!

Took mine out for the first time in 2 months! It was glorious!!! The weather was great & Ken's chips make the car so much more responsive across the entire rev range! I even got 2 thumbs up during my drive. One from a stranger and one from an officer I know in town. As soon as my garage warms up a bit I'll do the x-pipe and dual exhaust upgrade. Should I go with the "pumpkinball" rear muffler or the RMB? I'm not really looking for noise, just more power.

So to unplug the harnesses, just pull hard and wiggle them out? I imagine there's a tab or two that need pinching or prying. My fear is busting more evil demon plastic...

First remove the ground strap at the battery.
I did not remove the passenger tray.
Lift up the wooden pannel to the CE. Open/ close as needed for access to the EZK/LH.
Remove the vacuum line to the EZK.
There is a metal tab at the base of the EZK. Push the tab down and lift up on the plug/ harnes. You may have to work it a bit but do not force it. It should pull right out.
The same apllies for the LH as it is up-side down. It may take a bit more manuevering but it will pull out in the same way as the EZK.
Remove the 4 screws for the EZK and place it on the work bench.
Remove the 4 allen screws and place the LH on the work bench.

Take your time with the chips. The EZK is a bit easier than the LH.
Try to bend the metal tabs on the outer box slowly as they can break off. Remove the front screws on the metal box.
Use a very small/ jeweler's flat blad screw driver to remove the chips. Work on one side going back and forth to lift them out. Be sure to carefully press them all the way back on to the board.
The LH board has 3 tabs holding it down on the back side. Start with the outward tab lift it back/ up then work the other 2 tabs, the board will slide out.
