I also use the dampers, no squeal.
Get everything clean, white glove clean, wash the rotors with hot soapy water and a Sctochbrite pad, then clean with a good brake cleaner.
I always wear latex gloves to keep any oils off of the parts.

If your brakes sound like something is falling off the car, then my guess is that there is something falling off of the car.

Wurth CU1100 is pretty much high temp neversieze (anti-sieze) for those that are interested. This is what I use as well. But I use it on all metal to metal contact points. (not on the pad material or rotor though!

There's a contact plate in the leading edge of the rotor cavity where the pad sits. Held in with a screw, they need to be removed and cleaned when pads are swapped. Junk gets on them and around them, interfering with proper pad movement and especially retraction. It's pretty important that they get reinstalled after cleaning.

A some wimpy testament to how I drive the car, I've only put pads in once so far during my custodianship period. At 40k on the car, out came the wrn OEM pads and in went a set of Metal-Masters. With almost 60k on them, they might be due soon since they are worn to half of original thickness. They went in with the anti-rattle pads, and nothing else. So far, no noises.

If you have a serious get's-your-attention chatter or squeel from your brakes and/or suspension, look to see what you did wrong. I've seen cars come by with the hold-down spring that retains the pads sitting well clear of the pads, to the point where it is rubbing on the inside of the wheel. I've seen wheels still loose after suppsed 'tightening'. Iv'e seen rotors that aren't on the hat square, due to junk that fell into the space between. That's what thos little screws are there to prevent, BTW. Anyway, a serious noise means a serious problem, and with brakes or suspension that usually means --right now--.

My too sense.

Caliper bolts are tight. There is 1/8" vertical play on the rear pads when inserted in the caliper. These are PBR Metalmasters. First time ever using them on a 928. Kinda worries me if they are the right size or not. I checked the part numbers on the package and the box and they match up for the car. Strange.

Nevertheless, I'll probably just use of the stuff on the metal to metal contacts within the caliper on the pistons and where the pads sit to quiet it down.
