Doubt 5.9... 6.3 is more my guess... of course seat of the pants probably can't tell the difference between 5.9 and 6.3 anyway...

Stock should be able to do a 6.3. Why is sub 6 doubtful?

Stock a 86 5 spd was reported as 6.3 sec, auto is 6.8 sec. Cutting out .8 seconds takes more power than a X pipe and chips.

it also depends a lot on tire size and brake torque......is this on a drag strip or street?

Ah, I missed the word "auto". Yes, a 5.9 is most definitely doubtful.

Danglerb you are good with details and have exhibited tremendous courtesy and eagerness to help your brethren lately. Thank you for coming back to the forum!

Even at a drag strip, even with fancy tires, ET isn't going to drop much for an automatic. The 1950 rpm stall of the stock torque converter controls most of the launch behavior. Its how the clutch with slower shifting gets the edge that it does from much more aggressive launches.

Exactly... go read the tech spec manual guys and then learn about power requirements for improving times for drag racing AND road racing for that matter too... then lets talk some more. Auto S4's are listed at 6.5s 0-60.
