I think you should look at the price of the Murf stage III setup before you say that. IIRC it isnt too much cheaper than that. And produces less power.

I personally think that he has done a good job getting it to that level. I know how much energy he has had to have put into it to make it work as a kit.

Fair enough but what kind of 1/4 mile times does John's make?

Sorry to hear that but one bad experience doesn't make all 928 the same.

Imre, we are all happy that you were able to mount an SC to your car. But what you did was less than satisfactory in my opinion. Deleting the air conditioning is not an option for most street cars. The guy that made this thread knows nothing about forced induction. Do you really think he can handle fabing up his own system?

Yes, high 12s were before some of the system was re done to seal up the vacuum system and before the cats were removed. The car is mid 12s now. The used H-pipe was $100 and the rest was free. Still in the $1000 range.
Why, is John running low 11s?

That's true but trying to convince the OP that $12K TT system is the best bang fo rhte buck is not fair either. I met the OP last month at the Niagara run and is a very nice guy but also very new to the 928 world too, and I don't want him to get the idea that the TT system is the only one worth buying.

Stayed tuned, next spring I'll be rolling out another SC on an S4 and it very well might be a DIY setup. This time the A/C stays (my AC was shot so it didn't matter that it was deleted) in place and I'll try to hit the $1000 mark too.

I think the rear mounted Turbo system is closer to the price (maybe even cheaper) than the S/C kits and I know it produces good numbers when put on a good well tuned car to start with. I am not sure what Mark is running now, but I think he was in the 12's w/o any trouble... don't get my lying though.

Good deal I look forward to seeing the result.

Mark isn't selling the turbo kits anymore. At least that what he said a few months ago. Things may have changed since then.

Edit: Heres what his website says.

"928Turbosports is out of kits! We will no longer be manufacturing our kits as of 11/1/2009. We can still build you a kit through Boostlogic via special request, but will no longer be stocking kits. We appreciate all your business! "

Hi Steve

Question: Did you acquire that GT a few months ago in Burlington? I saw one just like that for sale on the PCA UCR site a while back and I thought it was a pretty good deal.

In any event, before going forced induction, make sure everything else works well and take care of any deferred maintenance. Any power increases will be make other issues more apparent.

My car is apart right now getting an intake refresh and I have my partial kit in parts in the basement right now. You can stop by and check it out if you like. Imre's advice on this subject goes a long was as well.

Hi all

first off:
Sorry that I posted this, sounding that I know nothing. I can manage my way around some things mechanicaly(oil, brakes and little things) but I AM IN NO WAY A MECHANIC. I was looking for some advice on bang for buck power mod.
eg-chipset=30 hp=$500 or SC=100hp=$11k?

Second:
Didn't mean for all the hostility. But, out of that can a good discussion on everyones views and points of interests backed by some good facts.

So instead of just doing something wrong, I thought I'd put it out there and see what other guys in the same field (of cars) have done(or would do).

[QUOTE=Cosmo Kramer;7090989]Hi Steve

I bought it in Sept. From W.U. He doesn't live in Burlington, but works there. I think I remember It being Listed in Grimsby. Yes it was on the PCA UCR web site.

In any event, before going forced induction, make sure everything else works well and take care of any deferred maintenance. Any power increases will be make other issues more apparent.

I was comming home a couple of weeks ago and while getting on the QEW a Mazda 3 was riding my ***, you know, one of those sh*t heads that wants too see what it'll do? And being at work all day(restricted to 105 km), so I slowed down a bit, took the ramp at about 25 km, then got on it(as I do every day after work, it's like a little bit of therepy). Thinking that he'd be left behind, WRONG, he stayed right there, on my *** till 140km. I eased off, he just kept going and going.
Just kinda got me thinking??????????

My car is apart right now getting an intake refresh and I have my partial kit in parts in the basement right now. You can stop by and check it out if you like. Imre's advice on this subject goes a long was as well.

Met Imre as noted. we chatted for about 11 seconds while photos were taken of all the beauties on the Niagara run. Nice guy and not shrouded about sharing advice or tips about cars. Everyone says to see his car and that his advice goes far. tells alot about a guys character!!!

Hi

Nitrous Oxide = 100 to 150 hp EXTRA for around $500 to $700...

By the way, when you say you eased off at 140 kph...you should have kept your foot in as a 928 CRUISES AT AN EASY 140 MPH (220 KPH)

All the best Brett
