The new Radar Detector

My bad, not a radar "blocker" but a laser...slip of mind/fingers.
I make the SLC-N. Idaho trip frequently in fact I am up in N. Idaho right now and my V1 has saved me from jail time even in Montana. I even use it in my beater truck when I take it for the trip just in case I get a little absent minded.
In SLC if you are not doing 80-85 on the local freeways you are just in the way. It takes me a little time to adjust to different locations that may not be as fast paced. I have blown by a few UHP's while testing cars with no problems yet...knock on wood. Just last week I finished a 996TT build with about 540whp and was taking the owner for the first ride in it. I was on a I-15 ramp system and wanted to see max. boost so I put it in 4th and put it to the wood. (1.2 bar @ 4400' elevation). After I maxed it out, I looked in my rearview to see distant red/blue rotating lights. Started cussing and pulling over to the side since I was at about 130mph on the ramp, he just went right past me and kept going. I guess it pays to be Irish...I'd rather be lucky than have to rely on which radar detector/laser jammer is the best but will hedge my bets with the V1 until something new convinces me it's better all around. My V1 has alerted me so soon on many occaisions that I was really bored and willing to risk the ticket by the time I encountered the LEO.

How so? I've been in multiple situations where I pass a LEO and watch the arrows go from front - side - back only to have another one "pop up" head I knew about only because of the front arrow.
Not to mention the 9500CI is out since spending $1,000 for just one of my cars isn't worth it and I'm not outfitting all seven cars either.
The next "big hit"in the radar detector world will be incorporated into the GPS sytem with live uploads to a main server when each detector picks up a signal. Which is then transmitted down to everyone with the same system warning them of possible upcoming radar on their GPS screen.
This would work great for laser. Just imagine if a system like this was adopted by every car manufacturer. Even a LEO traveling down the road would be updating the GPS of every other car in real time watching the cop drive down the interstate.
Yea, about as real realistic as flying cars......still an awesome idea!!!

There is a digital display, and it does have arrows, but not for radar threat direction until the Valentine patent runs out.
I do not care which direction they are coming from to tell you the truth, that arrows novelty wore off quick with me.
It was the constant false alarms that made my last V1 go into the closet.
BTW, I have never said that the V1 is not a good detector, for what it is and what it cost it is ok, but it is no where near a top of the line detector.
EDIT: you were also right, my first reply to you was rude, and did not tell you anything, so sorry about that.

The biggest difference IMHO is how you use the detectors, the V1 went off so much I just ignored it for the most part and got a ticket for doing so, if the 9500ix or the CI went off I knew it was a real threat.
As a V1 user can you tell me that you have never ignored a alarm?
If that (instant update) ever comes to market it will be a Escort or a Bell, they hold the patent on the GPS radar detectors.
I had a 9500IX before I got the CI, and did so on the advise of a cop friend of mine.
He said if he caught me speeding again and saw a radar detector he would write me a ticket.

I ignore alarms all the time on my V1.... because, as I said before, its easy to tell the difference between a real threat, and a false alarm.
If you've used the V1 for any length of time, then you will know what I'm talking about.
Weak signals in odd radar bands can be ignored. If the signal increases in strength, then it gets your attention. Usually false alarms will only set off the 1st signal light, and never get stronger.
Maybe the V1 isn't the absolute "best" detector on the market, but it picks up every signal, shows the strength AND direction of the threat, for $400 .... how can you go wrong?

I call BS on the IX since my Bro-In-Law has one and I've seen it go off when there is no LEO in site. I'm not saying it gives off "as many" as the V1, it's far from false alarm proof.
In rural areas around here, I'm thankful to the over sensitivity of the V1 since I've come across LEO's using the old X and K bands.
They would need to team up with Garmin or some other GPS company first.
I doubt it would ever happen, some BS excuse form HomeLand Security would probably kick in about tracking the whereabouts of police officers.

I'm not 100% sure of the traffic laws in Tx....but here in the Republik of Ca..."exceeding 100mph" is its own violation...a 2 point misdemeanor...which "may" get you towed.....but probably not....you would have to be deemed "reckless" which means 3 observed violations or more to get towed.....of course it all depends on the officer and your attitude....since it NEVER pays to argue with the cops....**** the cop off and we will start looking for extra stuff to write you for...like equipment violations....

The Corbra's wil set any good detector off, god I hate those things.
You do know also that some Escort products does indeed have GPS built in right? so no need to team up with anybody.

One thing I have found when dealing with radar detectors and the people who own them.
If they do not test, they tend to think the one they have is the best.
There is no perfect cop detector.

I don't know if they're still around or not, but Uniden used to make a device called the Bear Tracker. It was supposed to be able to pick up radio signals of patrol cars, and would alert you to one being within a few miles of you. It didn't require there to be any actual patrol car conversation actively going on to detect them. I've never used one, so couldn't say how well they actually work.

Have a Bel995 and just bought a valentine. The Bel is an excellent detector. I love the Valentine 's direction arrows and Bogey counter. Once you use them you won't go back to a detector without them. one question though for the other Valentine owners. Do you get almost no "K" hits as compared to other detectors? My Valentine may never go off due to "K". It doesn't even go off in places my Bel goes off with "K". Yes "K" is enabled and I'm running in "A".
