I have been away from 928's and this forum for a couple of years. Thinking of buying another soon. Looking at a '90 GT with many optiions, 60k miles. Anyone have the latest Excellence price ranges? Would appreciate other opinions of what I should pay for a very nice original car. Thanks

 

A very nice, low-mileage GT can fetch as much as $30k+. A lot of it depends on condition, current mechanical status (i.e. all things up-to-date), and history (i.e. accidents, etc).

Don't forget to get a pre-purchase inspection with emphasis on the "pre". Good luck.

I do think the value is between those numbers.

 

I could use some numbers a little more specific than $0-40. Are they generally $10K cars, $15, $20? Very clean, $60K miles, fresh t. belt.
I sold an '84 automatic 3 owner car with 66K miles two years ago for $11,000. It took a while to find a buyer.

Figured I'd get in trouble... $10k to $20k IMHO. A $10k car will have various leaks and other very obvious deferred maintenance. A $20k GT will have low-ish miles and non-obvious leaks and non-obvious maintenance requirements. Both cars should have very nice paint and interior. Any 928 with crappy paint and a neglected interior is going to be worse under the hood and will fall into the <$10k range.

The only way to find a GT (any 928) that doesn't need some work done to it is to find one that has had all the work done recently. And those cars don't get sold.

 

I dont have a GT, but the highest one Ive seen for sale was around $22000, it was very clean from the pics. cant remember the mileage.
decent ones have also been priced between 16000 to $18000.
with S4s going for 7 to $8 K, you should expect for the GT to drop in price too.

 

If I was selling mine right now I wouldn't take anything less than $35K for it. It has 32K miles, needs minor A/C work, and has all other maintenance 100% up to date.

I would guess a nice condition GT with 60K miles, most maintenance up to date, in very good condition and some unique options should fetch in the low to mid 20's. If its missing records, has previous body damage and a sketchy history it would be $15 - $17K assuming its cosmetic condition is very good, maintenance is somewhat up to date and the bodywork wasn't serious.

A GT unless it has a lot of issues draws attention fast below about $12k, and the air gets thin even for nice cars above $20k. A lot has changed in the last few years, mostly the middle of the market has dropped a LOT, but exceptional cars can still bring top dollar, maybe even more than they would have sold for in the past.
