Dark Blue

I've had my 89 S4 over 10 yrs and can't remember whether the gear indicators down at the auto shift lever (PRD etc) light up or not. I'm talking about the ones on the console, not the dash. I just noticed that mine are dark as are the window and sunroof switches. I just can't remember if they've always been dark. If they're supposed to be illuminated, what should I check. Thanks.

Mine don't light up either. There isn't a light to light them up, only light in that area is for the ash tray, lighter. I think Nicole sells an aluminum replacement that does light up.

When you have the indicators in the tach the legends by the shifter are not illuminated.

They are not illuminated, but can be easily modified to do so using EL strips:

There's a thread out there that shows an actual shifter illumination upgrade but I can't locate it at this time.

Perhaps someone else can.

Easy to install, pretty cheap.
