Default So who's got S4 calipers for my conversion

I've been busy racing SCCA for the last 2 years and finally have some time this winter to get back on my 81' OB. I want to upgrade to the S4 brakes and finish up some other performance items on the car. Just looking to start peicing the conversion together and figured calipers was the best place to start.

I have a set of rears Sorry no fronts. Callipers are the smooth style and not the raised letter style.

Let me know what else you come across, Nice to hear from you again.

I've got a pair of fronts, which I took of a '91GT with 81k. They come with Pagids (can't remember which ones) with lots of pad left. I haven't offered them for sale yet, as they haven't been cleaned up and repainted. Not sure if I even want to sell them, but you'e welcome to make an offer. They are in Nevada, but will be in Phoenix in a few weeks.

I have a pair of 86-88 rears, no signs of leakage but could use some refinishing. PM for details.

2 questions:

- Am I limited to running S4 or can I run GTS as well? (81' OB with 996 TT wheels already)

- Is this a full swap Front and rears? I've only been looking for fronts do I need rears as well.

My intentions are to track this car eventually, nothing serious just PDX's. I know the brakes are a weak point on this car. If I had the money I would drop it on the full conversion from one of the vendors but it's more practical for me to piece it together over time.

You can run S4 or GTS ( big reds ) with the same caliper adapters. It's the rotors that will change depending on which caliper you choose to go with. I learned this the hard way, after I bought the wrong rotors.

I found some GTS calipers to run already. What year rotors do I need to track down? Any GTS rotors will work on my 81'? Is there a specific part number I need to find?

I appologize for not searching all this, but since the last time I signed in this forum has gotten just downright painfully SLOW and it's faster to to just ask these questions.

I'm going to hijack this thread back to brakes for Chewy-...

In my experience, you need to change both ends to the same system, and get a different bias valve for best results. Especially if you will track the car. I have some serious flat spots on the front tires to prove this....haha..
It is a worthwhile upgrade.

Thats a negative ghost rider

Striaght from one of the Vendors:

"Brake caliper adapters
This bracket allows you to bolt on S4 or GTS front calipers to your 1978-1981 928. If you have a 1982-1986 you can retro fit early spindles to take advantage of these brackets."

Looks like the GTS calipers aren't going to work out so I'm all ears on tracking down the front S4 calipers. I have a pretty sure deal on the rears already so I'm gonna stick with the same S4 system all around and change the bias to 5/33.
