Default I want this 928!!! what do you guys think??

I want this 928. Its being sold out of a dealership. I contacted the dealer and he informed me that it will only be sold to a dealer because its an older car and he doesnt want to be liable for any safety issues, etc..

its an 86 black on tan. 27000 miles...$7K..is the mileage too good to be true? ill have to carfax it. I have a friend who is a delaer and can buy the car for me..thanks

what does "exempt" mileage mean? Also it lists an 86, but refers to a 4.7L engine when it should be a 5.0L, since it doesn't appear to be a euro... Its worth taking a look at & the price seems good if the mileage is legit

+1 if miles are correct, it's a steal. Get a PPI... How come there are no photos of the interior?

One other note this ad says 27,030, a year ago it sold, 07/28/2008 IL 26,817 Auto Auction REPORTED AT AUTO AUCTION AS DEALER VEHICLE. Thats a long time to sit in dealer hands with just 213 miles. Maybe have a PPI done twice.

For reference, vin WP0JB092XGS860411

What happened to that beautiful green one you had awhile back that I damn near bought? That car was gorgeous, and iirc, you had it sorted pretty well?

You see cars like this all the time because of the chronic odometer gear failures we have. I can't count how many ads I have read that say "odometer indicates xxxxx miles". That statement waives them of liability on an odometer rollback because they are just saying it indicates those miles and does not necessarily reflect the total number of miles on the car.

In any event, if that car is clean it looks like it has approximately 100000 miles. If the PPI checks out see if you can scoop it for a good price. If it shows tons of deferred maintenance, "run Forest run"!!!

Are you a dealer? What am I missing here. The ad is very clear about the dealer thing, so why are we having this discussion? I also don't understand the seller's position. Hasn't he heard of an "As Is" sale?

Dealer to dealer releases the seller of all sorts of liability issues. Seems pretty obvious the seller is fishing for a private buyer who knows a dealer to escape from the liability and odometer issues. This car has been sold through dealer auctions several times, the last I show is more than a year ago, but thats also when I was running a lot of Autocheck reports on cars I found for sale, so it may have been though another dealer auction recently.

Default Have the maintenance funds ready !!!

With a car like this, do not buy it for the low miles or the glorious record.

WYSIWYG was never more ttrue than with old Porsches. Take a good and thorough look and have that 2 digit K-dollar maintenance fund ready when You've got into Your garage.

On the other hand there is nothing more asuring than fresh maintenance and new parts on a 928 and done by your own hands. You do not have to trust anybody, You've done it by Yourself with new parts. The best insurance there is !

Just make sure to have the funds ready and You will have the joyride of Your life.
