Should be 7 opposed stacks of 5 with the short stack of 5 at a specific end of the assembly (I always look at the WSM to check so don't remember which end) although that part of it may not matter.
Stacks and see post number 117.

Rusnak Jaguar of Pasadena did the same thing to me on a CPO Jaguar. I paid for one but after having issues with it and taking it to another Jaguar dealer in the O.C., they told me that several of the things that were suppose to be replaced in the CPO process hadn't been touched and it appeared the CPO service was never done.
I feel bad for you but i doubt you can prove anything and they know it will cost you more than its worth to go after them. I suspect it is a dealer wide thing they do occasionally.

You can attack the dealers, and rightfully so, but I don't think this is a policy of their service department.

What you have here is a mechanic who beats book and gets a bonus by not doing the work. Is some candy-*** P-car or Jaguar owner going to look? No. That's why they brought it to the dealer in the first place. And a 928 water pump, with steel bolts into aluminum, is like a time bomb. If you break a bolt or two you're screwed. Leave it on and you're home a 5 with an extra $100 in your pocket.

And that's how I came to do all my own service.

LOL! That's funny right there.

And no reflection on the original poster.

Glen has an excellent point about the mechanic taking short cuts.....in the pre E-bay days at the Pomona Swap meet when the Porsche section was huge. One dealer mechanic ALWAYS had lots of NEW parts for sale....like 944 rod bearings. The 944 uses an internal oil/water heat exchanger and when they failed part of the repair was changing the rod bearings like anyone at the dealership was going to take off the oil pan to CHECK !!

You can go into some dealerships and find the guy that turns the most hours, and that big bottom drawer of his tool box is going to be full of parts that some one has paid for AND paid to have them put in that they did not get.

When you pay for CPO and you need service, you have to use a dealer. It isn't all mechanical, I had them redo the wood in the car also. I doubt you could have done that in your garage.

I don't mean to frag all my P-car brethren who take their cars in to dealers. I'm giving what a mechanic may think.

I know I've paid the "Porsche tax" when having work done. The mechanics eyes open a bit and later the bill rises 50%. I just have to remember to keep saying "Audi 5000." Then I get pity and and the tax is 0.

And, hey, I'm good with wood. I'd take a shot at it. (lol!)

I charge the same for working on a Porsche as I do a chevy, but I will not take pitty on some one with a Audi, I figure they know what they have done if they have had it for any length of time.

The Audi 5000 was the model with the pedals placed differently that suffered from a lot of "unintended acceleration" incidents.

It's revealing how many of those reports included the driver's declaration that they were holding the brake down as hard as they could and the car just took off. Try it sometime. Brakes always win.

My ex-Audi 5000 had 3 pedals.
And I was begging for some Unintended Acceleration from that 110hp 2.2 inline 5 lump. Moving off from red light with A/C on was usually a heart stopping looooong time as the car finally gets some speed.
