Thank you. I got it when i read your post above, after i posted the question
But look at this at 928intl.com
http://www.mailordercentral.com/928i...s.asp?dept=120
Seems like my GS841882 needs the early 90 tooth according to 928intl as far as i can understand. Does not match what you believe. Or am i wrong?
928 332 033 41 Axleshaft 86 up to GS860999 - 90 teeth i assume
928 332 033 44 Axleshaft 86-95 - 45 teeth

IIRC the VIN detail on the 928 international site is for US cars only.

You are mixing up US and ROW VIN sets. Your '86 is ROW GS84xxxx while 928Intl actually lists only US GS860937 vs GS861001 change. 0938-1000 US VIN's were not made. There are two separate cars, GS861882 US model and your ROW GS841882. See this thread for more details:

If it turns out PO got the wrong old style, i will not blame him
Will be interesting to find out what the problem really is. Now i know what to look for at least

Hm, ok, glad I asked, I thought it was a stupid question with yes as an obvious answer. I know about the center bolt(after nearly killing myself getting it off), but i thought the suspension woult take all the weight.

Weight is transfered to suspension just fine. Its just that there isn't anything keeping bearing together. If suspension is lowered just slightly offset bearing might not like it. On early cars shaft can be left in and thus they don't have same problem.

I know on some front wheel drive cars, that have a similar CV joint/wheel bearing setup, you can use a long bolt through the hub to keep the bearing together to permit the car back on it's wheels. I don't know if the 928 rear bearing relies on the full diameter of the CV joint stub shaft to keep the bearing together.
You could just dissasemble the CV joint - tilt it far enough to get the ***** out then the rotor should be manouverable out of the cage, then remove the cage. Then you could just put the CV joint back in and nip up the big nut to keep the bearing together.

ABS light off drung smog check
My ABS lights up after the car reaches 5-10 mph but not at start. When I went for a smog test on the dyno the ABS light did not come on. Is the problem with front wheel sensor? The part #for the 1986 front ABS sensor is 928-606-404-00 and for 1986.6-91 928-606-404-02 is there a Bosch part#? or a 944?
