Funny to see some of the thoughts here and the dust settling.

Again forums are a riot with all of the conjecture and misinformation.

And Chuck, you knew early on it was going to MW? Careful - remember, you only have bits/pieces.

Regarding (perceived) 'market', well.... beware Wag The Dog. And for this car, what's comedic is how He quibbled for a few clams off - almost sad.

What's worst and what I really didn't want to quantify but what the hey... A couple of collector enthusinut friends of mine and I all separately arrived at the same conclusion about the driving experience of the car:

'meh'

***ducks***

The driving experience certainly doesn't dictate the (perceived) market price nope. Numbers purely numbers. Real neat car sure but for the $ ($$$ in this case, now) there's about 72496 cars I'd by prior. Maybe I was just distracted looking for the licorice dispensor on the dash ala Wayne's World 8-). Kidding aside, I can see the appeal of them tho - real solid and a decent GT, just not for me. Seems most here are the gamerest of gamers with these and I *really* enjoy 'that' - good for you all.

What's a greater shame to me is that it didn't get snapped up by one of you *died in the woolers here*, we'd hoped it'd be while it was still affordable - that car belonged in the Enthusiast's home and for Doable money IMO. Live and learn, next thing like this comes along may dictate going for the Stratosphere as that's what everyone is clamoring for, that's unfort...
Can't help but think you're here with this post just to stir things up a bit?

Please do tell if I don't have "all" the story......... I'm all ears..... You say "we" did you have a financial stake in this one????

+1

I nominate krashuyps' last response for Troll Post of the Year.

He probably dropped that load and ran, won't be back for weeks, if ever, and just did it to stir up trouble.

I must admit, I had a hard time picking up on the intent of his post too?

...... same post with some embelishments on Pelican: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...ml#post4949841

..... I have no doubt this was to stir the pot!

I have to agree with the others I don't understand your post.

I have a 94 turbo. I am assuming by your avatar that you own a 930? the value of the 928GTS is significant. hate to say it but more so than many Porsche's. I enjoy everything about my GTS and it is a remarkable car once you have truly pushed it. It is one of the most enjoyable Porsche's I have driven in my 30+ years of owning most every model.

I would not take it over my 94 turbo and we have argued that point here many times but these cars are outstanding and many die hard collectors I know truly appreciate the GTS. I would have a hard time choosing between a stock GTS and a stock 930. Both are great cars and they both perform on the same level although the GTS is far more enjoyable to drive vs the older torsion bar cars.

Before you discount it you might consider your points about how it is on original rubber and more than likely original shocks which by now have seen there day. It is an entirely different feel and power delivery but when driven hard it can perform as well as a 930 in both handling and acceleration. It is not as fast as a 94 turbo but the turbo isn't as comfortable and as easy to drive.

Sorry I missed this one there are few time capsules like this left and this car was so far ahead of its time.

There have been a number of posts in recent months like this, where someone (who isn't the owner) posts about a great car for sale. We get all worked up into a lather, the original poster provides additional info about the car, but it's all secondhand, the asking price jumps around, the lather turns to froth, ad infinitum. It makes me wonder why the actual owner of the car, if he/she in fact wants to sell the car doesn't just post a sale post by themselves. If you can afford a 928, you can afford to be a RL member and post your own sale thread, and this whole 'posting for a friend who's computer illiterate' baloney is just that, baloney. It's 2009. I'd be pissed if I let a friend post about a car of mine for sale and they contributed to it degenerate into one of these threads. OTOH, many people put more care into a leaf blower ad on Craigslist than they do for a mid-5-figure automotive sale, so perhaps one reaps what one sews....

You've been a non-paying user since 2001 and have made 14 total posts, 3 of which were in this thread.....

Your opinion of a 928, or any Porsche gets a *YAWN* from me.

Now buz off back to the burger joint and man the drive thru.
