Excellent work from a reputable shop indeed. The latest description from the owner has helped to clear up a lot of confusion on my part. Shaking violently at idle would have left a lot of mechanics , including myself and the two here at the shop , a bit frazzled. We had one in here that shook so bad we thought the engine was going to jump out of the car. It was a mint org.1980 euro 4.7. It turned out to be the aux. fan believe it or not. One blade had broken off and under throttle it was shaking terribly. Good job Dave.

While I know that it was expensive, it is good to hear that an honest and competent shop fixed a rare, hard-to-diagnose problem.

I wish that I had Mr. Eckman as a friend and handy consultant...

If felt great to drive the car off Dave's lot.

The problem had been kicking my butt for several weeks, the dates on this thread prove that. I elected to drive the car to FL because the vibration was unnoticeable at speed and wasn't getting worse. After I got down to FL, I was in the, "Oh #*%*%!!!" mode as the vibration had gotten pretty bad after 400 miles on the highway.

Dave really bailed me out.
