Default Question about head studs

I am slowly in the process of putting together a new engine for my car. I am taking good parts off of my old engine and putting them on my new engine. Can I re-use the nuts for the head studs or should I be getting new ones??

Nuts are fine to reuse. Brendan might disagree, but they are probably fine.

Buy new washers and scuff up the side that goes against the head with some sandpaper to prevent them from spinning when torqued down.

I re-used the studs/bolts on my 81 - they are holding 20psi just fine

Generally OK to re-use. Take a look and judge each part individually.

Studs with corrosion? Out.

Washers that are squished? Out.

Nuts that feel sloppy? Out.

The nuts and washers are cheap bits once you've gotten bearings and rings or head gaskets.
