Default Shipped

Recently shipped Jerry a set of liners so he can do his thang. Took the liners off of my 94 GTS that looked OK from a distance, but not up close. For an estimate on shipping, I paid the USPS $ 68.69 to ground ship the two liners to Jerry in Grand Junction, CO, from Rockport, TX, approx 1250 miles. T

THANK YOU Tony ... that is very selfless of you, and hopefully will get Jerry to a point where he can deliver liners for us all.

T, congratulations on getting them out in one piece! Mine were so far gone I couldn't have gotten them into a box, just a pile of crumbling crap!

Default Counting

Sofar we have

Steve G $50
Rob Edwards $50
Soontobered84 $50
77tony $68.69 (paid in shipping) and donated used GTS liners to Jerry
Herman K $50

That’s 5 and counting

Heinrich and Tom in Austin are you guys in?

I’m sure that if more guys join in it will help Jerry to keep the cost down for the initial batch and he’ll give those that front some of his development cost a fair discount when they become available.

I'm in for $50 if it accelerates the timeline.

Good work T! Dude I am chomping at the bit to see your car all painted! Thanks for shipping those to Jerry. It sure would be nice to have a source of new, cheaper and better quality liners!

Tom, I just realized if you abbreviate your screen name you are T-n-A! LOL!

One version of what I plan will fit all the cars, I think, particularly the S4, and another version will fit only the GTS! The inner part of each liner will be essentially the same for both, but the outer will have to be different.

One thing I have learned, which I doubt that most know, is that the shape of the GTS rear wheel opening, aside from being further out about an inch, is not the same at all the other cars. It is a little rounder and taller.

What that means is that for one outer half of this liner to be simply trimmed differently or to be overlapped more for the earlier cars is not the best solution. This is so particularly since making a seperate form for each is not too much extra effort, or even making one form that is somehow adjustable to work with either is even less effort with the need to simply change the bridging for the liner needed. The latter approach is what I have had in mind, but I am still open to doing both forms seperately.

Part of my motivation in development and fabrication generally is to shy away from short-cuts and compromises. I'm sure that that does not always make sense, but I seem to be stuck in that mode often.

Nevertheless, I do appreciate the suggestions. They put my mind to work every time. Sometimes that take me in a big circle or the circle might be small, but it is almost always there to go around. Thanks for the ideas.

Actually the outside ideas don't always take me in a circle. Sometimes they take me in a different direction and not back to the same place, as suggested by my last comment. Jerry

I'm in for $50 as well for Jerry's development costs. Jerry, let me know the PayPal name and I'll get it to you. (want them for a GTS - I don't think it has to be a perfect fit for the more rounded GTS's or the less rounded S4/GT's, hope we can get a universal that will fit both satisfactorily).

Best wishes for a Merry Christmas

I have opened a new thread about the rear wheel well liner project, so I hope we can take further ideas and considerations up there. Thanks.
