Hi Tom,
All the Oregon DMV needed was a picture of the speedo to "prove" I had swapped it out of the CDN car and replaced with one calibrated in miles. I wouldn't bother actually swapping the digital dash, just need a picture of one. Fortunately a picture was easy to get and I sent it in with the title application. It was all quite painless. I'd recommend dealing through customs using a broker. It cost a couple hundred, but the skids (palms) were all greased when I got to the border. That was a great '87....

928s that were sent to NA (incl both US and Canada) were built to meet the US specs (EPA and DOT). I believe the daytime running lights need to be disabled, the speedo needs to be converted to US mph and you need to get a letter from Porsche that states it meets the EPA requirements. It's been a while since I looked into this so there might be a bit more. Definitely some hoops to jump through. There have been some that have been driven across the border and "left" here. Some DMV's don't care where the title came from and were willing to issue a new title in the States..and since the VIN is the same as in the US..no issues after that. Kinda what happened with my 89GT..I still have the KM dash, celcius temp etc. Louie had to replace his speedo...but then put it back in when he got through the Oregon DMV.
BTW...converting a digital dash to US is not easy. The Canadian dash will not just toggle between US/ metric. For some reason they are KM only and the whole circuit board (or dash) will need to swapped in with a US version. I suppose if one had a "spare" US dash to swap in...and then put the original back in after the paperwork cleared..that would be the way to go..

From: Somewhere, NC............................... Posts: Not nearly enough!
Exactly.
More pics would also help justify the price increase.
New PC'd intake & cam covers? Concours engine compartment? 'Clean enough to eat off of' undercarriage? New tires? New brakes?
Show the condition of the entire car... 20 pic minimum should do it.
