Why would that be??? If you get the car across and are able to register it here there should be no problems here forward. The 928's destined for for Canada and the US after 87 are exactly the same save for some options..typically seat heaters and no rear a/c because it always snows in Canada . Be careful though as I alluded to in my previous post, Canada allows cars 15 years or older to be imported to Canada without much hassle. This would mean there are some Canadian registered but full Euro cars over there. The Euro cars can be imported into the US too (see James Morrison for the gory details) through a registered importer (it ain't cheap). Some typical cues are the side markers and newer than 1990 models without airbags etc..

I saw the requirement to report to the IRS for the gas guzzler tax, however, most I have seen have come across the border with just the EPA form 3520-1 and DOT form HS-7. Make sure the undercarriage has been cleaned and then it'll be up to your local DMV. Not sure why anyone would willingly contact the IRS and why or how the IRS would ever find out the car didn't have the gas guzzler tax paid. I suppose if you claim the tax paid to register the car in your state it might come up.. But anyway, the IRS clearance is not required at the border and it would be best to check with your local DMV to see what they want.

For some 928's it's worth a little leg work to get it in and personally ..I love having a KM speedo and celsius temp gauges ...

I bought my GT from out of state (Indiana), not out of country. To register it, I just took the paperwork to my local tag agent. They wanted to see the car, but only to check the VIN and mileage.

At least for me, I would think the process would be no different for this Canadian car, as it has a normal looking VIN number (WP0AA2923PS815101) that shouldn't raise any eyebrows. I bet I could get it registered here in Oklahoma, heck, we don't even have annual vehicle or emissions inspections here anymore (all you guys with modified cars need to move here ) My main concern would be physically getting it across the border from Canada.

I met the seller a couple of month ago. Very nice guy. However, I never saw the car.

I lowered the asking price since the extra set of wheels as been sold separately.
I beleive you inspected that car a couple years ago when it was offered for sale by the previous owner.

I can't even imagine how long the lines would be if our DMV here in san diego verified our vin and mileage... We typically grab a number, come back a few hours later, then wait a couple more... Verifying that info would add days to the wait.......

I really like this car. Love the color combo, especially the two-tone interior with the really light gray seats/carpet. Reminds me of a '99 BMW M3 with similar combo that I once lusted for.

Alas, I'd have to sell my well-sorted GT to buy this GTS...

They don't offer you to make appointments?

Here, we make appointments, show up on time, and go right past the lines.

I went to take a look at the car but I missed the PO so I never saw the car.

Good luck with the sale

Looks clean enough and the bidding is not excessive. Most of the east coasters are asleep so they'll see this one in the morning.
I believe this same car is currently advertised for sale, though the ad says it still has 153,000kms.. did it sit all this time (since August 2009)?

Is the seller bigred2171?

^^^^^^
That means it is a N. American car and thus should be quite easy to have US certified, but it will still cost some money and probably will still have to run through a Registered Importer (RI)...I'd certainly check with an RI before trying to buy it for US use, but it sounds like a smokin' deal!
