Houston Texas Victory Motorcars ?

Well finally got a straight answer:
"I DO NOT THINK I HAVE ANY RECORDS ON BELT THERE IS A BOOK OF RECORDS THAT CAME WITH THIS PURCHASE. THIS CAR WAS SOLD NEW IN SLIDELL LA. AND THEN CAME TO TEXAS FOR THE REST OF THE TIME. THIS 928 IS EXCEPTIONALLY CLEAN AND STRAIGHT. IF I CAN HELP YOU I CAN BE REACHED AT XXX-XXX-XXXX NICK"
And from researching this forum it appears this car was sold by Victory in Houston and is a respray that has been in a few accidents.

NEVER BUY FROM VICTORYMOTORCARS UNLESS YOU ARE TECHNICAL EXPERT AND HAVE CHECKED THE CAR THOROUGHLY FOR MANY, MANY HOURS ...
I bought a car from Mr. Neal, Victorymotorcars, last year and he did not tell me on purpose that the gearbox was already in the past and that an additive gearbox oil was filled in order to reduce the noice (furthermore, one could see with the naked eye that the screws of the gearbox were already opend in the past - which must have been known by Victorymotorcars as the car had even been serviced by the company for many years).
In the end the gearbox had to undergo a thorough overhaul which caused an invoice of almost USD 7k.
Victorymotorcars must have been aware of the damage of the gearbox, however, sold the car without mentioning this problem - a lawyer uses the term "willful deception" for this.
Mr. Neal refused to reimburseany costs ("no warranty").
Buy anywhere - but not at Victorymotorcars! It cannot get worse!
Regards from Austria,
Bernhard

There is no 928 sale I can think of that doesn't deserve a PPI as part of the purchase evaluation. As much as I like to think I know the cars well enough to do a thorough PPI on a car I might purchase, the investment in expert evaluation is tiny compared with the potential liabilities buried in the car. Although I'm not sure I know what a $7k gearbox overhaul looks like, I can see how even normal maintenance updating on a purchased 928 can get to those numbers if the work is done by a shop. These cars are not for the weak of wallet under even the best circumstances.

Happy Victory Customer
I just bought a Forest Green Metallic 993 Carrera/manual with 57k on the clock. I was happy with the price. The service on the phone and internet was efficient. My questions were answered and documentation provided.
It had received the 60k check-up and the clutch was replaced, new tires and a variety of fixes. Car was shipped to me in Illinois (arrived filthy, original carrier broke down and it was put on a car carrier on the bottom and went through a rain storm). Cleaned up great. Beautiful car and I look forward to keeping it for a long time.
In the rush to get it ready they were rebuilding the drive motor to the spoiler and shipped it without it. I noticed that the spoiler wouldn't go up, kind of obvious I know. It was clear looking that the drive was missing. One email at night with a quick response on Sunday (today) apologizing for the mix-up and fedexing it to me for Tuesday arrival.
All in all very happy customer. My last 911 was a 87 targa, this is much sweeter.
If you are hyper detailed (read ****) buyer than you MUST look at a car first. You can't assume that your version of hardly any blemishes is the same as what a sales person will consider. That isn't me. I wanted a solid car in very good shape and that is what I got.
I can't speak for anybody's experience but my own, so thank you Victory.

Here is my VMC story.
Called VMC on 2/20/2013 asked about a red 95 993, was told it was there in stock.
Commercial flight and rental car acquired.
Arrived 2/21/2013 was informed that car had been sold weeks ago.
Looked at other cars in the lot. I drove 3 different cars.
Decided to buy a 1996 993 with 66k miles.
This car drove great, but had been repainted years before.
Had a small area of the fender that had been reworked.
The magnet I carried showed no bondo. Had new tires and service completed.
Autocheck showed clear title, 3 owners.
Maintenance history and books were provided.
I was able to negotiate the very high price but still a little too much.
I was in no means pressured into the purchased of this vehicle.
I have done some work on this car and its very easy to work on.
Its been a great car and runs great!
Clear title in hand.
September 13 2014 decided to trade on a newer Carrera S.
That dealer used Carfax not Autocheck to check my car.
My Carfax report showed "Salvaged".
I also found out the maintenance books for my car were not for my car!
My fault for not noticing?
Contacted Robert Neal. Very elusive with his answers.
I contacted the National Insurance Crime Bureau (www.nicb.org).
I was informed Carfax was correct and Autocheck in error.
My only complaint is the vehicle was advertised as a clean Carfax, but I was provided with an Autocheck report. Also the maintenance book issue.
Many emails later I have started the process of filing complaints.
I don't expect much.
I have a friend who purchased a 993 five years ago from VMC and its been a great car.
Buyer Beware!
