Houston Texas Victory Motorcars ?
Anyone done any business with these folks? They list a 91 928 GT that looks good from the pictures.

It's not a GT, It mentions 4 speed auto in the ad...Though that is a fantastic color combo!
The reviews for Victory is somewhat mixed, on Rennlist. I've heard good reviews and bad. The one thing that does seem persistent with them is there use of Shill bidding to get eBay cars some extra attention to get the prices up.

Jim - I have looked at this car on line previously. It is not a GT it is an auto S4. They have it listed as both. This, to me, indicates they know little about our cars. It does look pretty though. Not sure the color is labled correctly.
Here is the VIN (WP0AA2920MS810367) if you want to run a carfax report. I also checked Chuck Z's website www.928registry.org to see if it was there and to check it's history. It has not been previously listed there so no help (last four digits of the VIN is the serial number. I do recommend always checking this site when you find a car you are interested. It often shows history of where the car has been.
If an S4 auto is part of your search, this is a very good (last) year for that model. I would call the dealer and get more information about the history/maintenance of the car. Also get them to tell you what the option codes are for the car. Sticker is under rear carpet near the spare.
If the car is not exactly what you want, then keep exercising patience. As you have probably noticed every couple of weeks there is a very good car that a Rennlist member needs to sell. Those are the best ones as they have been well sorted and maintained. Stephen Porter bought a fantastic example S4 from "iceman17" a few weeks ago. Hang in there. It is tough when your heart is raging for a 928. Don't marry the first girl you kiss and wait for the right car are both good advice.
Good luck,
Dan

"Don't marry the first girl you kiss"
Now I know where I went wrong 8>)
Great color combo and an exceptional car in theory.
Lots of locals who can check it out for you.

I don't know anything about the dealer. You will frequently see cars listed on these sites as "S4/GT" Some DOT database or maybe even Carfax shows this for the MY and they just list it as such in their ads. No use trying to inform them, just take it as an indicator of their lack of knowledge. They probably have no history and you have to look more closely for any signs of trouble or maybe even joy; bid accordingly. Don't take their word for anything.

I was there on Wednesday
Didn't see this particular car than but they had about 3-4 928 in stock together with a bunch of 911's. The owner is a former #1 sales guy for one of the Houston Porsche dealers and seams to know P-cars very well. I have no experience in dealing with him but on first impression he has a nice professional set up and appears easy to deal with he had now problem in me roaming around his inventory without any interference by him. He has been in this biz for many years and has tons of connections the overall impression I got is that you really need to PPI whatever you buy from them (just like anybody else) he understands that perfect detailing and as much PO documention brings the best values for his inventory.
Let me know if you need any more help on this he is only 15 min down the road from me.

I helped my son purchase an '88 911 Commemorative Edition from Victory Motorcars last year. There is also an online store "VictoryMotors" and I know nothing about them. The car was new in all but MY. I could not believe that a 20 year old car could look and feel that new inside and out. A stunning beauty inside and out and was mechanically excellent. Last February, just after returning from Iraq and taking his brother out for a drive in the 911, he spun off the road on black ice and into a bank of trees. I find it hard to believe that 2 living people were pulled from that car (http://gallery.me.com/mjpate). Little 911s provide considerably more passenger protection than I ever would have imagined (or guessed from the photos).
To the point; Victory only carries the cleanest cars and a visit to their shop is an experience in Porsche history. I would definitely buy another 911 there. I don't think that 928s are their forte. You would need a PPI like anywhere else. They had no problem with a PPI on the '98 911 by the way and they took care of the transportation back and forth to the PPI shop.

Michael - having lost family members due to black ice I shuddered when I looked at those pics. Glad your sons survived. A testament to good engineering and seatbelts I suspect. looks like they were moving at a pretty good clip when they went off the road.
Jim - go take a long look at the car. Can't hurt. If it looks clean, well serviced then order up a PPI. My recommendation is to always put your offer on the table before the PPI. That way if the dealer is accepting their negotiation cannot go up or stay high if the car checks out ok. If the car has minor issues then your already negotiated price still has some downward potential.

Aren't these the same yahoo's that were hawking a GTS with a 5.0L in it??? No one really knew the story on it and the shop wasn't talking...I think a few folks even went and checked it out...
Hate to put that on them if it was a different shop...so I am asking, is it the same place or not?
