Default MY 83 Right Head Temp Switch

Im looking to install the pictured temp switch (928-605-104-00) on the rear-inside of the right head. According to PET, its only applicable to MY 83. Yay!

When I took it out, it was installed without any sealing ring or washer, and also no substances on the threads. The switch was screwed down and flush with the flat surface of the elbow fitting, also pictured below. But the PET calls for sealing ring A 14 x 18. I have one (assuming A stands for aluminum in the sealing ring part description) , but it seems weird as the threaded part of the switch is only 10mm so the ring doesn't self-center itself.

Looking for any experiences installing this switch, the sealing ring, and what works, and what doesn't work. If I should coat the threads with anything or leave it dry because it's a switch. Also a torque value if possible. Can't find any reference to the switch in the WSM so I guess Ill go with the standard torque value for 10mm bolts (40NM).

Thanks in advance

I do not remember a ring on my '81. As it is a thermo valve and works by heat I did not use any sealer either.

The surface of the switch is flat, so is the surface that it threads into. No place for a sealing ring as far as I can tell. PET is what's screwing me up

it is a blind hole as I recall no coolant there...and it's function is to purge the charcoal fuel vapor recovery can has little to nothing to do with how the car runs....

Thanks James. Any idea of torque value? I remember seeing a comprehensive torque chart on here but I can't seem to find it again. I've been using WSM and a little tech spec book from pelican but it's for a 4.5l and it doesn't seem to cover everything.

should not need to be very tight since there is nothing to leak out it just gets heated up by the temp of the cylinder head. Allows the vapor recovery system to pull a slight vacuum on deceleration with a warm engine.
