Default Rare 1981 Porsche 928 Euro S 5spd on Eprey

The body looks to be in great shape. The price is right and could be a pretty quick car with a few thousand $ and a couple hundred hours of labor!

p.s. not my car

Those pictures look very familiar, and the trees, hey that's my 4 wheeler in the background!

The pictures are about a year and a half old, I took them in my driveway. Kindof surprising to see them on eBay.

Interesting about the compression. I never did a compression test. I still think this car has potential.

(Sure wish I had swapped out those headlights with my 86.5, but I wanted to keep it a real euro in every way. Now I'm in the market for some e-code lenses)

More history on the car here. Hopefully I'm not stepping on any toes...

Don - my apologies I used your photos without asking - I needed to get her up for sale quick as I just lost my job. If you wish me to pull them, I can do so. I did the compression test just last week.

No problem using the photos, much easier than taking new ones. Sorry to hear about the job, and good luck with the sale. There were several TX folks interested when I had it on the market, so there should be some takers.

Is that compression low enough to make it run poorly?

Can we talk about the headlights? I can PhotoShop the pics after we make the swap! :-)

Did anyone here ever have the car running? If so, did it have a water leak into the engine? How long sitting without running?

Thanks,

This car should be saved but be forewarned the engine will probably have to come out B4 that happens.
This wont be as simple as throwing on a belt and hitting the key,
The engine code should also be checked it should be a M28/11.
Figure at least the head gaskets and valve job.
As well as all of the front engine seals.
Timing belt, water pump, and a new set of belts.
Possibly a new set of tires even though they were newer when it was parked they are well past the prime
If your crafty you might find a true dual set of Euro pipes and kick that single to the curb, and you might be able to fit an X pipe as well not a Y
Also a master cylinder and the whole hydraulic system for the clutch.
The fuel tank as well as the fuel system and fuel pump
The reward will be a cool car that should be a strong runner

****, if I gotta pay for all that work, I'm out. That's why I asked about water leaks, I don't want to crack the heads on a car unless I have to. That's a lot of time and $$$$. Seals I can see, and a belt too. but not if the heads have to come off.

Doc to verify the replacement of the head gaskets look along the top edges of the head/block you will probably see a white deposit along the gasket edge in the V.
The early cars will all need to have the gaskets replaced, they will all deteriorate over time, plus the heads might also have holes in them from corrosion

+1 I think all early cars you have to expect the heads will need to come off, even with 25k miles.

Now that I am unemployed I was going to post on the description that I would deliver anywhere in the continental US for $1 per mile from where I live (with a minumum charge of $150). I could offer a Rennlist special on that for $0.80 per mile - but that would still cost you around $1,000

The gas tank has been replaced with a good (read non-leaking) used one.
