Sun shield for rear hatch?
It's that dreaded time of the year again when I must park my shark in the school parking lot. My new school does not have any shady spots in the lot so I am forced to park the car in the sun I have a windshield sun shield but the rear hatch, rear windows and side windows have no protection. I keep the leather very moisturized, but I am very concerned the sun will take it's toll on the leather if it is not shaded. Are there any 928 vendors that sell sun shields for the rear hatch and rear windows or will I have to buy the reflective rolls and cut pieces out to fit in the windows? Thanks

I bought mine from Dave and Jeannie at 928gt a few years ago - They include one for the front window, two for the quarter windows, and a nice one for the hatch that has about 8 suction cups on it! I park my car's at the Marina and fire stations, with no shade. Quite often if I've been working thru the night, I sleep until around 1 or 2. While the sun has been beating down on the car, when I get in, it's still nice and cool inside!
I figure it's why my dashes and pods don't crack down here in Florida.

I have the 100% occlusion (all windows) set from Dave & Jeannie (928 Specialists) as well. They stopped selling it a couple of years ago [correction - a few hatch pieces are still for sale as of this date, but no full window sets] after some problem with their manufacturer. Too bad. It is a godsend for preserving your interior when parked outside. I use it religiously.
I tried to duplicate it with a very simlar looking reflective insulation from Home Depot. It should work well, BUT it is not rigid enough and after a few days of use it starts to just collapse in. Also, it appeared to shrink a little, so the initial tight fit did not hold up. Also, I could not find a suitable suction cup. Adding some in the middle of the hatch piece would help keep it in place.
Anyway, I encourage you to try to duplicate the 928 Specialists set. If not, then a car cover is the next best option.

And NO - mine aren't for sale...
They are probably worth more then a couple of 928's I own.

I wish they made a version of the California Pop Top (something like that) for the 928. Its a mini car cover, just over the windows. Hooks over the side mirrors, tucks under the windshield wipers, with some kind of fastener at the hatch. Small market, and three kinds of spoiler at the rear, and whatever reason they said they didn't make one for the 928 last I asked, but maybe time to prod them again.

I didn't know the 928 sunshields are NLA.
One guy had bought a rear hatch shield at SITM just this year.
Helped him get the suction cups on.

That stinks, I remember a few years ago I saw the sunshade on 928 Specialists and I figured I would wait to purchase it until I had my license. I guess I will have to fabricate something to work. I would tint the windows but in Virginia the tint limit is very minimal.
