Unusual CL find: 88 with GTS mirrors, flares, and strips - but S4 bumper?

Unusual CL find: 88 with GTS mirrors, flares, and strips - but S4 bumper?
Ran across this on CL today. It looks like a normal 88 auto, but with GTS body panels, mirrors... etc and S4 bumper. Very odd. Anyone know the story?

What do you mean odd?
That's what mine will look like once it's done and it will cost me as much for paint, flares and mirrors as this whole car.
If the mechanicals check out this looks like a great deal

Its not odd looking, just a strange investment for an otherwise stock s4. I was hoping someone would have some info. Maybe there is more to this car than the listing. Its also odd that you would weld the rear quarters in, and then ADD rub strips.

I just now noticed it doesn't have rear sidemarkers, but they chose to keep the front ones. So they welded up the hole for the markers, and added holes for rub-strips. Someone has to know something about this car.

Yea, I keep forgetting about those within the 928 community who honestly believe the only reason some of us choose to flare out the fenders and add GTS mirrors is to pose as a GTS owner........
I didn't think about that. Maybe they like rubstrips (only God knows why some people prefer those 
) or maybe their welder was not up to task welding up the front aluminum fenders.

I think the S4 rear bumper looks better then the GTS one with that big reflector. One thing that he could have done is sourced proper rub strips for the rear quarters instead of fitting the S4 ones on. The GTS has tiny ones only about an inch long so they don't have to bend around the rear quarter panel.

I plan on adding the GTS mirrors to mine along with rear flares, as I really like the look of the mirrors and the flares will give you the needed room for larger/wider tires. Plus I just like the choice look.

I personally would have ditched the rub strips while it was being built, but otherwise I would love to have this car.
It's how the GTS should have been... Hell, it's how the S4 should have been too. Eliminate the ghey reflector rear bumper!!!! The stock S4 rear looks so much more....clean....
All it needs is a supercharger and you are looking at what I would like to get to some day (low mile 95 GTS non withstanding of coarse
)....

This tempts me to find an S4 cover and have it painted midnight blue, I don't like the reflector either. Lose the sunroof and the rubstrips and that car has it just about right.
