close enough he has an 84 so it wont have frozen plug in the recepticle.
BUT you will have the remove the right side round plastic cover to fit the hook through the PU to the socket, its just on the far side of the grill area

well, I will have to look for this "tow hook" you are all speaking of, I went ahead and strapped it home by the hooks on the leading end of the control arm, it compressed the chin spoiler a bit while it was in place, but no damage done.
she is in the garage, and I have an extra day off tomorrow, so I will be back at it then.

My next idea is to get a "noid light" and check the injectors, then I can rule out all associated relays and computers if they are getting signal, if they are, I think I will be draining the tank, and putting in some super.

Cheapest (gas) is not always least expensive.

Good thing I have a good friend I can lean on to tow me in these situations.

3 way jump on the FI relay 30-87-87...... insert in 87-87 and then 30(hot).
That would be 4&5 then 3 in this pic,
I have an 84 to and had the same prob this summer..... It was the FI relay.

Ditto. For fuel injector, do three way jump. I carry a 3 way wire for this.

When you jump the fuel pump relay, you must immediately hear the fuel pump run while you are sitting in the cockpit, else it may be jammed. (you can tell by a helper making the connection and you having hand on the pump, else, stethoscope, to hear it hum but not run if jammed).

I'm wondering if you have neglected grounds, too? If so, easy enough to clean them. And 14 pin.

Could also be a broken connector on green wire, per another post above, but my experience is they are robust enough if you are not digging around the engine compartment.

Thanks, I will attempt the three way jumper today, prior to draining the tank. I fugure I have eliminated the fuel pump as a possible, because it does pressurize the fuel rail after cranking.

So, I went back to the car, (now safely tucked into the garage) and made up a 5 foot long jumper with a switch so I could say under the tank and turn the power on and off to the pump, and it worked great, right after I rapped it with a jack handle. So, it would appear that everyone who picked fuel pump gets to add a star by their name, and proceed to the next round.

After speaking with my favorite supplier, who thought I would do just as well with the later (S4) fuel pump, I found out that Airtex actaully has superceded the two part numbers into one, so anyone following my footsteps may feel confident putting an s4 pump into their earlier 928.

and to offer you another point , there should also be a warning label with your new pump, that warns against hitting or dropping the pump.
There are permanent magnets that are on the other side of the aluminum housing of the pump, striking with a wrench or hammer can fracture these and then cause the pump to fail

I gave it a knock as a "diagnostic procedure"

I would not bang around a new pump for no reason.

Quite a bit different than Chevy starters.... They supply a large hammer for making them work....

Seems like he found it, I would remove the sender and check for particulates in the tank and replace the filter. If you get a good price on the net for a pump bring the quote you can go to auto zone and they will match it Bosch for Bosch.
