Default Porkentensioner - Where to buy?

I know that the picture is not representative of new Porsche's owners.

We are going to Grande-Riviere, near Gaspe to take possession of our 1979 Porsche 928 this week-end. Pictures will follow.

In the meantime, I would like to know where we can purchase the Porken T-Belt Tensioner (PKsn'r). Is 928sRus in Texas a good choice?

As we are new owners, is there something special to mention when we will order?

Thanks
A&M

Yes, 928sRus is a great place to get one. I recently got one from them and am in the process of it's install. Talk with Roger and he will get you everything that you need.

If someone does a timing belt job without one, they're crazy!!!!!

I think it makes the tb replacement easier. It is a six hour job, maube less. if you've done a timing belt before. I always lose a lot of time just routing the belt, it always fights me.

Funny, Porken does not sell it directly anymore?

Anyway, you're in good hands with Roger @ 928RUS......

Alain, remember when I talked about the AIR PUMP!?
There are 2 types of PKsn'r, one with air pump braket

and one for no air pump.

Even though I have removed my air pump, I still got the one for the air pump in case I want to put it back on.
It might be a good idea to take a look under the hood before ordering your's....

Salut Maryse,

You will also need a flywheel lock tool to do the Timing belt job.
Ask Roger about that, he may know where to get one.
I have one but it does not fit your model year.
You will also need a WSM(workshop manual) if you don't have one.
The PET is very useful/essential to.
There are links to get the PET free somewhare here and the WSM can be purchased from jim moorhouse I beleive is name is......

As a side note, your car as the square toothed belt not the better rounded one.
This is just a guess on my part but you can upgrade to the rounded one if you change all the gears to rounded one. That would be 2 cam gear, one oil pump gear and the crank gear. Not a bad idea if the gears that are on the car now are badly worn.

A+

if your car is a 5-speed you don't need a flywheel lock. 5th gear and the parking brake are lock enough.

Thanks Daniel for those informations.

We are going to St-Gui tonight and I do not have Internet overthere. So, if you want to talk to us please call Denise. She had our phone number. We will come back to Longueuil on August 30. In the meantime, we will have the Porsche and the first inspection should have been done.

We are currently out of stock at the moment - more coming in about 3 weeks.

The beauty with Roger is you get the complete package. No sourcing the other necessary parts...one stop shopping!

YMMV That crank bolt can require more torque than you think. I recommend the flywheel lock.
