Default Chucking Rear Noise

I have had a noise which is progressively getting worst coming from my passengers rear. I replace the CV joints and still the chucking noise is there. The noise is not there at first but comes after about 3 miles of driving then it starts inyou can hear it. Does not sound like a bearing and there is no wheel movement. When the car is under torque the noise appears to go away.

Even my 5 year old asked ....daddy whats that noise. Any Ideas?

Have you checked the differntial bearings already?
I would recommend to open the rear cover and look inside.
Any metal shavings on the drain plug?
Is your car an automatic or manual?

I've had bad rear tires cause what sounded like CV joint noise. Really sounded like joints again.

Coincidence, right after CV joint change (cleaned, better ones, reversed, from another car).

On your CV joint switch, was it a new axle? Inners and outers both?

If the tires are bad they should produce the noise regardless of the load put on from the drivetrain

maybe check to see if the parling brake shoes are still where they should be it might have thrown a spring or lost the friction surface and the rotor is slowly eating the pieces

You are probably right for the most part, but there were sweet spots where it seemed quite reduced. Had another set of tires, worn pilot sports, that would roar between 60 and 70. Just been a bad summer for me with CV's and used tires. Might not be his problem.

Good idea on parking brake, too.

Those rear wheel bearing can go and sound like a CV joint. Not much wobble to be seen as long as it's clamped down.

Someone I know had that kind of sound coming from the rear wheel, he thought it was shot bearing.
He was really surprised when it actually turned out to be 2 loose lug nuts.
