Your covers are not factory, and the design of the covers was modified a bit, but the seats are early Porsche sport seats, and probably were installed at the factory.

Paul, Do you sell seat covers for the aspiring pro to install themselves on the sport seats?

On the headroom issue I'm barley 5' 10", with short legs and in my 81 with sunroof and power seats my head just clears the headliner. My 84 euro with no sunroof and sport seats is different story. I feel like I'm sitting on the floor of a cavern and could have two helmets on with room to spare.

At the moment I'm just starting to recover a set of manual seats that I picked up for the 81. I figure I will gain a little space and lose a little weight. Not bad.
Hey Ted,

you can have the satisfaction that the set I have is in worse shape than yours

I am working on an updated design for these seats, so I might have a good solution for you in the near future.

I am aware of the matching back seats. I have a set in the shop as a matter of fact. But I have also seen those sport seats in front and regular back seat. Might very well be that they were installed at the dealership.

Anybody notice the door speaker housings on tedward515's 928? This is the second time I see those - I wonder who made them.

They seem like a good solution for the early cars, when you don't want to cut into the sheet metal.

Yes I did. Probably the neatest aftermarket job in that position I've seen (not factory is it?) But needs the mesh grills fitted.

Ugh, I remember that sport seat design. I ended up selling mine to Rob Budd.

Now I just need Paul to make me some matching black door inserts to make the interior match a little better until I get a chance to do the full switch to black. Paul, any ideas on modernizing the rear seats like you've been able to do with fronts?

Paul,
I can't wait to see what you come up with for the sport seats, it should be good.

Nicole,
The speakers in the door are by Zbox. They did cut the door panel to install them but otherwise it is a rather clean looking install. Although for some reason I get an 80s drug dealer vibe with them, I don't know why. I think Zbox also did a sub box for the rear which would be kind of neat to have a matching set.
I also have the grills for them somewhere. I will snap some better pics with them installed after work today.

Casey: I am working on a couple of new designs already, but nothing that would match your 886 seat. Although doing back seats to match those would be easy enough.

Ted: I have a few projects in line before those, but I will post pictures when they are done.

I'm still a little confused by the various pix posted but there's no way I'll argue with Paul, who's doubtless seen sport seats more recently than 10 years ago, unlike me.

These are most like what I remember having.

I'm 6'4". On my 82' with comfort seats I cut the rails down and had no problems. The seat rails are an inverted U channel that is about 3" off the bottom of the floor. I cut off the top 1.5" of the inverted U and bolted in some milled aluminum parts to what remained of the U channel with horizontal bolts and then bolted the seats to those. A pretty major hack, but it was pretty easy and worked out well.
My S4 has sport seats and I do not fit very well. Hope I don't have to do something similar....

Here is a close up of the Zbox speaker housings. The grills are in a box somewhere.

How well did this work out? Seems odd that there was so much extra height that you managed to cut out?
Do you have any details or pics of what you did?
Thanks
