Default GTS Quarter Panel Source - 928GT.COM

A while I back I was on a quest to find a new set of full steel quarter panels for my 79.
According to almost EVERY supplier I called or person I talked to on the forum, I was s.o.l.
Well I talked to David a few days ago at 928gt.com and guess what?

My quarters should be here in four weeks, Yosh!

To all the other people that have been given the same run around, here you go. Call David if someone else tells you they can't get you a part, you'll be glad you did. Him and his wife are very nice and I look forward to doing business with them again!

Has anyone ever seen an OB with GTS quarters that retains the original rear panel?
I'm going to have to graft the lower part of the original rear section onto the new quarters to use the rear fascia, but I'm sure the car will look very unique.
If anyone has any pictures of an OB like that, would you post them here? I would love to see it!

Thanks!
BB

I'd PM him. He has a small pic of it in his avatar.

Good score BTW on finding these.

Apparently, they have plenty in stock in Germany. Sure is nice when someone takes the time to actually call to find out for you!

Plenty in Germany now - they had none about 4 weeks ago.
One arrived for Jim's car so no more issues for a while.
The secret is to know the difference between NLA and out of stock.
Even Porsche does not know the answer to that question 8>)

Any of the suppliers can tell you what is available on any given day.

Roger you are so right about this. We expereinced the same thing with the rear fender liners for the GTS. Suddenly there were 80 sets available in Germany.

Trust me on this, buy a used one if at all possible, even if it is more money.

That often depends on who you ask... There is a guy at the factory who is responsible for 928 parts (among other things). Trouble is, you can't bug him with everything, or he won't have time to get our parts in the first place.

Just checked left 061 21 is $1555 and they have 2 in Germany
062 21 is $1555 and they have 1 in Germany.

2 & 1 does not mean plenty in my book

Prices are as at the new August price list.

Here are some closeups...The PO had them done and from what I heard, they were a bear to mate to the stock OB rear cover. This was evidenced by the copious amounts of bondo that came off after I rolled them to fit the big track wheels. It seems they had to really blend the rear..so the sharp edge on the GTS fenders is gone..and a stock filler cover fits in. I think most folks go to a S4 rear cover at that point.
