Delta Cams
I have had my 2V 78 cams at delta for several months - basically just saying - "take a look at them" and see how much can be taken off the base circle safely so I can eek some more lift out of them.
I called again today and they said they can't do anything but bring them back to stock. Unless I know somebody with a profile, as they do not use CNC machining to cut the cams.
I do not know about cam cutting other than I have seen it done by a local place called Crower. They are in Chula Vista, just by the border. I may bring them there now that I think about it.
My post here is about Delta Cams - does anyone know how I can help them find a way to do this or should I just give up?

there is a local company to me,
Colt Cams, I know that they can rework them for you.
IIRC Delta cams is in Seattle area, I am going to be heading there next week, I could pick them up and bring them to the fellow up here.
How much can the 16V lifters compensate for?

Colin -
About a milimeter and a half. Maybe 2. They are relatively large lifters. I could always use some valve caps, but I'd rather not.
Do you think they could just work on the base circle? I wanted to avoid welding for more lift. The reason Delta can't do it is they said there are no profiles available. Does that sound right?

Brendan, That sounds to me like they are just being lazy, or not wanting the work.
This fellow can do it with welding or without. Though obviously welding would allow more radical numbers. The nose would be wanted to be lowered slightly too to decrease how sharp of a point is on it. However this fellow has modified 16V cams previously.

They have no profiles for a 928? and what exactly does a profile look like is it a cam or what?
My guess is that cutting down the "bottom" is easy, deciding where the bottom starts and stops is hard.
Get the start and stop wrong and timing changes.
If it would help I have a set of Euro S cams you could borrow. I also have my .506 lift cams from WebCams, but I want to start assembly on that motor pretty soon (month or so).
Any chance one of the local cam shops could make a profile from a cam and just send that?

Colin,
Delta is in Tacoma.
I could drop in if anyone thinks it would be useful. Sounds like they don't want to go into uncharted waters with the 16v Cams.
I was going to have them mod my B-1 Cams to make them more condusive to use with an A/T tranny per some suggestions by Louie.

My guess is that you aren't going to get anything sensible done to those cams for under a grand.
Greg Gray is working on some 16V cam profiles in Australia, he may be able to help. Jim Morton can give you advice on the Elgin Cams profiles. 928MS offers profiles which I believe (but do not know) are welded and ground by Webcam. Don Redmon of RMI can hook you up with Crower (they are in the same building I think), who can make anything. By anything I mean _anything_ and also _not cheap_...
