I've been tied up on projects lately, but hope I can get free to spectate on Saturday. Brian, we can continue where we left off on our 3rd gear roll-on experiments on the way back home.

Bill,
I would be nice if you could come out. I haven't seen you since the NORC.

Only third......it was 3rd 4th 5th for me? :>) I did manage to top out 5th the other day & get into 6th full throttle briefly....didn't get the chance to redline 6th though :>(

Whats really sad is we will think were going really fast.....then Tim will blow past us like were in reverse!! :>)

I hope your feeling better....it was BRUTALLY HOT on Saturday......around 105F by 3pm.....so it was a rough day!! Many cars were overheating & cooking brakes.....the AC in the trailer was nice, but even its 17K btu was having a hard time keeping up......

Sunday was nice...MUCH better weather...only 93 in the afternoon.....barely even used the AC in the trailer...... Lap times were better too....I managed to improve my time 3 seconds from Saturday.....but that was using the bypass instead of going over the top....

I probably would have been fine in the heat. At Fairfield I started having shaking chills and feeling cold. I turned the AC off and road home in 101F heat with all the windows closed. Must have been 120 in the car, but it was all I could do so I wouldn't shake. I actually felt comfortable at that temp. Not even sweating. Got home, buckets of Motrin and finally broke the shaking chills. Finally feeling strong enough to move around today. Hope everyone did alright. How did Tim's ZR-1 and Paul's Z06 hold up?

Wow Bill, I hope you are OK. It was like a furnace out there. I drove up with the new guy (Eric)....I think he still has the perma-grin he got from the ride with Paul. Tim's ZR-1 is simply awesome. The brakes are the biggest I have ever seen....his rear's are bigger than the front's on Paul's ZO-6!!! Sounds awesome down the front straight too. Tammy took her 928 out for her first track day. Brian buzzed around in the spec Maita, melted his driving shoes from the heat. Did I mention it was hot?....

Fairfield has the same effect on me ... and I live there!

Saturday was blistering hot. Hope you're feeling better Bill!

Do you guys have any pictures from the event? I would have love to have been there, but I'm still trying to get the 87 started.

This really sucks...

I didn't take too many pictures...but heres a few....

I was stuck driving a miata AGAIN......it is getting really old...but the miati are fun to drive and I'm sure I'm a better driver due learning a "momentum" car and forcing you to be smoother.....I did improve my previous best time in the same miata by 2 seconds

Tims ZR1 is a impressive....for a comfortable street car, it just rips around the track....the magnetic shocks just flat WORK....great grip too from the Michelin's...it is far more composed around the track than a Z06....bumps on the track that tend to upset a Z06 just get soaked up effortlessly in the ZR1....quite similar to the miata I was driving with custom JRZ shocks... Its needless to say the power is impressive as well.... Tim had no problem passing any car out there whenever he wanted....even the full blown race cars...by the end of the day Tim was putting down some VERY fast lap times....and not really pushing that hard either......

I am confident that a stock ZR1 with R comps is a sub 2 minute car at Thunderhill...maybe 1:58.........the ZR1 just might be the perfect combo of a car you can drive to the track...throw down impressive lap times....and cruise home in comfort with AC keeping ya cool......add a little trailer for R comps to switch out at the track and your done....

It was pretty cool watching Paul and Sam (both Z06's) chased each other around the track on Saturday.....I didn't time them on Saturday, but I would guess they were quite close..since neither caught the other and they didn't seem to be pulling away too.......then Tim and Sam chased each other on Sunday....I don't think Tim every caught Sam...but his laps were a few seconds faster

Yep, thats my car. Thanks for posting Brian. I had a great time at Thunderhill on Sat & Sun. I have only been there once and that was 6 or so years ago with my GTS. Sat was very hot, maybe 104 or so.

The ZR1 did not heat up at all and never went over 220 degrees. Everything worked as it should and absolutely no issues cropped up. I'm not sure what my fastest lap was but the lap Brian captured was a 2:08.xx on the cyclone configuration of the track. I was in Solo on the first day so there were some traffic issues between turns 6 & 10on that lap so who knows what that lap might have been. My friend Sam in the Yellow Z06 posted a 2:15.xx on Brians stopwatch that day.

On Sun it was very pleasant, maybe mid 90's. I was moved up to point by on the second day and I hired a really good instructor to ride with me and tape the session. My sessions went really well and I am looking forward to seeing what my times were in the bi-pass configuration from the tape account.

We all missed Bill and hoped he made it home OK. You take care of yourself Bill. I want you back on my Pit Crew for ORR's.

I will post what the day two times were, good or bad when I get the DVD.

So they ran the hill and then the bypass on sunday.

Sounds like a great weekend. I wish I could have made it to go for a ride with you. Yep, we had the heat in the last SCCA race. 102 temps and it was scortching hot on the track! Im hoping that was the reason for our slightly slower times that day!

Did anyone see the mock, exhibition race? were the GT3s there? Any times?
