Default ls1 vette couldn't pass me

I went down to the beach for a short ride and a 2000ish vette tore out of a parking lot after me....must be the flashy 19" wheels. The vette was lowered and had a stainless exhaust.....think it was pretty much stock.... We hit a light and slowed down to about 10ish mph. When it turned green both our cars pulled pretty hard and he we were even till I hit 80ish...then the 928 pulled a little harder. The euro motor is stong as hell...... and having a 2800/2900 lbs car also helps!

I think my LS1 in my 98 Trans Am would take my 81 especially off the line. Never done it though. The 6 speed is crazy fast!

The euro 928's are far stronger than the USA models......but consider the vette probably has 350hp in a 3300lb car too....vs your 330 crank HP euro in a far lighter car.....

84-86 Euro 310 rated but most say more like 330. 80-83 Euro 300HP as noted.

Headers and dual exhaust are good for a few HP!

I would imagine that he was very impressed and then a bit depressed. Rennlist has had new vette owners come on here asking what the hell we have in these cars. Did you guys happen to stop and chit chat?

They are fast but not crazy fast. Till the middle of 3rd gear the LT1 and the LS1 are the same but then the LS will start to pull away at a significant rate. In stock form, my 928 was half a second faster than my LT1 6-speed.

Crazy fast is when bikes are starting to have hard time beating you.

I've seen a euro do 290 at the rear wheel with just some exaust mods on a dyno. I was pretty damn impressed! Since my sick S4 at the time could only muster around 260hp.

291rwhp here with only crossovers and autothority chips at the time.

A rolling start is the best way to go with these cars in my experience. From a dead stop the Vette may have had you early.
