On my to do wish list is to go keyless like the new MBZs, Lexus etc. From the research I have done so far, it seems like this company makes the best one (no affiliation) www.digitalguarddog.com. Looks simple enough to install. Additionally, if you have remote keyless access to open the doors/trunk, then you could go totally keyless and keep the key for emergency back up start only. No more worn out ignition switches or cutting additional keys. It also incorporates a security feature. One concern of mine was the fact that you lose the steering lock protection but that is no longer true (the protection) since there are so many tools, including a simple screwdriver that could break it quite easily. As a bonus on my car, I remove my removable steering wheel during storage or when parked in unfamiliar areas.
Anyone has any experience or heard anything about this product?
Have you looked at this site? http://www.drespecengineering.com/ I haven't contacted them yet, on the winter list of things to do. Looks like it should work on the 928 though and just like the Kessy units on the VW and Audi. I had this on my W12 Phaeton and have it on my wifes T-reg. It is the one convenience that I miss the most. As for losing the steering wheel lock, I'm sure there will be a lot of feed back on this, but I don't see it as any kind of problem.
Thank you Brent. By the way, how do I defeat the steering lock? With the ignition not directly installed on the steering column (a good thing here) is there a small bar that goes across to the column from the ignition key area?
Please and thank you.

Reason: bad spelling
I've thought about making a push-to-start button which would look like the 2nd link above. To defeat the column lock, w/o removing the cylinder, I figured I'd use a cut down key left in the lock.
Funny how we all think alike. I was just sitting in my 928 last night and thought wouldn't a push to start be cool. I'll be checking into this for sure.

I was thinking of completely removing the key tumbler from the dash and stow it either under the dash drivers side or foot well passenger side. Then place the push button start where the tumbler is now. I believe the steering wheel lock would be permanently disabled. I need to look at one to see how this really works. As stated earlier, another winter project on the list.
I understand the desire - and I was quick on the Keyless Entry path - but proximity enytry and keyless ignition just seems like a whole lot of trouble waiting to happen to me. I'll not be going down that path.
Hessank - after all the electrical woes to sort out on your car are you sure you want to add this - remember those curses you said about the PO....
I'd prioritize Sat navigation, better lighting, better AC controls etc etc way ahead of this....
