Gary--
You're right Gary not much need for the heated option here. But someday we may move back to the mainland, perhaps some much colder place than here where the heated seats will be needed, like San Diego.

I sort of remember them being Recaro and having some kind of control panel, maybe like these.

These seats are indeed Recaro. They have electric bolster adjustments. Segmented lumbar. Adjustable thigh support, and a bunch of other gizmo, including on-board memory, independent of the car.
They were the most supportive, comfortable and expensive seats made by Recaro. They still make a similar seat to this day.

These are now mine by the way
And yes, in that picture they are installed in the wrong position in the car.

? Isn't lumbar the difference between 8-way and 12-way?

That would defeat the purpose of lightweight sport seats as the additional motors would make them heavier than 8-way. If you're set on doing this insane thing, you can have the biggre bolsters welded onto 12-way boat anchors.
+1

IMO the only true sport seats are non-power like the ones in my 81

The rest of you have poser sport seats

Paul can make anything you want.....so you could get HEATED 12 way sport seats if you want...but might have to adapt the wiring if you didn't have heated seats already

How about COOLED sport seats? And how about you start with NEW Porsche seats, instead of the very old, very heavy 928 seats?

If you used Peltier junctions you could have them heat OR cool. You would need an external radiator, though.

Do you have mirror memory? (or did you have mirror memory before the Aero mirror swap?)

If you did have it the addition of the 12 way memory seats should be easy - just plug in and go. All S4's were wired for memory seats both in the doors (both sides) and to the underseat connectors. It was a possible dealer upgrade to swap in differently configured seats than those it was built with (eg swap to sports, or more options on comfort seats) however seat and mirror memory options go together... you couldn't have mirror memory without memory seats (& v-v).

There are no extra fuses or relays except those included with the seat.

Note that 12 way, memory and heat are all relatively rarer options on the passenger seat than on the driver seat. It is quite commmon to see only 8 way, non-memory and non-heated seats on the passenger side.

And yes the difference between 8 & 12 way is lumbar.

Hmmmm - would the option codes that are in the orignal owner's maual tell me if there were memory functions for the mirrors and seats? If yes, I can dig through my documentation, that is with me here in Hawaii, and then compare it to the option code list here.

There is only a shot of the controls of the pass seat. Looks like 8-way to me.

I did read about the sound deadener you installed. Do you have more informatio about what and how you did that? I will be doing the same thing. Looking for tops/tricks/lessons learned.

Thanks Sterling

These are Sterling's seats:

Driver's side is indeed 12 way, they are 928 seats and they are sport seats

And made out of some of the best Italian hides you can find.
